Zorbaz already does not have ample parking space for their summer crowds; so they park along the highway in front of other pro­ perty owners' houses, and even on private pro­ perty sometimes, blocking access to lakeshore and residences. This causes much inconvenience for us when our own families and guests come and need parking space. It also causes con­ gestion of traffic on such a narrow roadway. Since we pay high taxes for lakeshore property, shouldn't we have full use of our space? SNACK FOODS CO. During that time I have driven or walked past the restaurant on almost a daily basis. This past winter when the ice caused damage to the area I was one of the first to see the restaurant's damage. Now that Zorbaz has fixed the shoreline as to DNR approval and rebuilt the deck area on top of those rocks to match the shore and the building, I feel that the new replaced deck look as good or better than the old one and looks good from the lake as well. I am also glad that the tourist money that comes in has a place to be spent and enjoyed so the resorts stay busy, local employment is helped and my taxes are helped by this activity. The activity at Zorbaz has been good for the area and the people here. Don't hassle them over a better situation than had existed in the past. Haosoo, Detroit Lakes, JIN, requested a variance to extend an existing deck 7' across the front of the building. The deck addition will be approximately 6’ from the ordinary high water level. The property is described as Lots 3 and 4, Otter Tail River Park and part of Government Lot 5, Section 4 of Everts Township on Otter Tail Lake. The audience was polled with an individual expressing concerns regarding the parking problems. A letter from Mrs. Bill Taylor expressing concern regarding the current parking situation was read for the record. The applicant presented 22 letters in support of his variance request. After consideration, motion was made by Craig Anderson, seconded by John Everts and unanimously carried, to approve the variance as requested. It was noted that this is a commercial establishment and that the deck addition is suitable for this type of establishment on this lake.
