Motion
Robert and Phyllis Narveson - Approved the variance application as requested. (8:23 p.m.)
After discussion and consideration, Cecil Femling made a motion, second by Paul Larson and unanimously carried, to
approve a variance of 49’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100’ for the placement of 12’ by 18’
addition on the southeast side of Cabin Number Nine 5T from the ordinary high water level and a variance of 58’ from
the required ordinary high water level setback of 100’ for the addition of a deck to Cabin Number Nine 42’ from the
ordinary high water level. It was noted that neither of the proposed additions will be any closer to the ordinary high
water level than the existing dwelling or deck. Hardship is the terrain of the property. The proposed development to
Cabin Number Ni ilar to the use of the in this immediate area.

Daryl and Deb Hirsch - Approved the variance application as requested with conditions. (8:10
p.m.) - Continued
The variance as approved does not directly or indirectly grant variances from the required side lot line,
septic system or well setback requirements but does grant the variances necessary from the required road
right-of-way setback and ordinary high water level setback to enable the applicants the ability to place the
10’ by 10’ shed between the rear (roadside) of the dwelling and the road. It should be noted that instead of
moving the existing 10’ by 10’ shed to the authorized location the applicants can choose to place a new
structure in the authorized location, however, that would required that the shed closest to the existing
dwelling must be removed. Hardship is a grossly substandard lot of record, the terrain and the unique
shape of the applicants’ property.
Robert and Phyllis Narveson - Approved the variance application as requested. (8:23 p.m.)
Robert and Phyllis Narveson, part of Government Lot 5, Section 6 of Girard Township by Blanche Lake,
requested a variance of 49’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100’ for the placement of
a 12’ by 18’ addition on the southeast side of Cabin Number Nine 5T from the ordinary high water level
and a variance of 58’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100’ for the addition of a deck
to Cabin Number Nine 42’ from the ordinary high water level. The audience was polled with no one
speaking for or against the variance as requested. After discussion and consideration, Cecil Femling made
a motion, second by Paul Larson and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 49’ from the required
ordinary high water level setback of 100’ for the placement of 12’ by 18’ addition on the southeast side of
Cabin Number Nine 5T from the ordinary high water level and a variance of 58’ from the required ordinary
high water level setback of 100’ for the addition of a deck to Cabin Number Nine 42’ from the ordinary high
water level. It was noted that neither of the proposed additions will be any closer to the ordinary high water
level than the existing dwelling or deck. Hardship is the terrain of the property. The proposed development
to Cabin Number Nine is similar to the use of the other structures in this immediate area.
Y&M Properties - Approved the variance application as requested. (8:27 p.m.)
Y&M Properties, Lot 1 Block 1 Y and M Properties, Lake Ida in Candor Township, requested a variance of
124’ from the required ordinary high water level/aquatic vegetation setback of 200’ for the placement of a
dwelling 76’ from the aquatic vegetation. Robert Maneval represented Y&M Properties at the public
hearing. Dennis Craswell, the potential buyer, appeared along with the applicant. The audience was
polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. After discussion and consideration,
Randall Mann made a motion, second by Steve Schierer and unanimousiy carried, to approve a variance
of 124’ from the required ordinary high water level/aquatic vegetation setback of 200’ for the placement of a
dwelling 76’ from the aquatic vegetation as depicted on the drawing submitted with the variance
application. Hardship is a substandard lot of record and the terrain of the applicant’s property. It was
noted that the variance as approved will provide a reasonable use of the property and the proposed
location is perhaps the best location for the proposed development. It was also noted that the applicant
does have a legal site for the placement of a septic system.
James and Anne Melville - Tabled. (8:42 p.m.)
James and Anne Melville, Lot 27 Fair Oak, West Battle Lake in Girard Township, requested a variance of
20’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 75’ for the placement of a dwelling 55’ from the
ordinary high water level. Andy Pettow, Contractor, appeared with the applicant at the public hearing. The
audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. Letters from Douglas
and Karen Wagner, Jim and Lois Ales, David Hansen, Lori and Curtis Johnson, and Dan and Karleen
Goodman in support of the variance as requested were read for the record. After discussion and
consideration, Paul Larson made a motion to approve the variance as requested with the condition that no
more than 25% of the total lot area can be covered with imperious surfaces. The motion failed for lack of
a second.
