A JUSTIFICATION Explain why this project is needed:See attachment B ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT 1. Anticipated changes in water and related land resources: Instead of eroding the high bank at high water, the water would end about ten feet short. The sand bar would be exposed for about "JO feet at high water and would control lateral movement of sand, keeping sand on the beach in front of the resort and preventing erosion. The channel would permit operation of outboard motors at low water. Ice and wave action would gradually level the lake bed, tending toward present contours,2. Unavoidable but anticipated detrimental effects: r x- None ! 3. Alternatives to the action proposed: Parts of the pro;Ject could be undertaken without the others. The bank could be protected by a wall or revetmnnt.a.b. PROJECT SITE DATA 1, Describe the typo and amount of aquatic vegetation present: Minimal~a rfew scattered patches of short weeds on the bottom; most of the lakebed is clear sand or gravel. 2. Describe the nature of the material beneath the water: Sand, gravel, silt and small stones to an undetermined depth but exceeding twenty feet. 3. Describe the nature of the upland area:1 ^ steep bank at water's edge four to twelve feetin height, backed by undulating lawn and woodland for several hundred yards. The topsoil is sandy loam one to two feet thick; subsoil is sand and gravel. 100 foot lots, first two 75 foot lots with private East;4.
