RE: Parcel 16000360209004, Round Lake (56-522)
Dear Mr. Remer,
I sympathize with the situation you are in, however since we have received a complaint we need to
see it through. One consolation is that once the property is brought into compliance there shouldn’t
be anything more to complain about. As you said that may not end the complaints but it should end
our need to contact you again in regards to those complaints.
I have done some more checking as I indicated I would. I talked to the two inspectors we spoke of,
Mark Ronning and Wayne Roisum. I also spoke with Bill Kalar (Department Administrator). Both
issues, the fish houses and the garage are violations and must be corrected. One way to resolve the
violations is to remove the fish houses and garage. Fish houses are allowed on the property without
a Site Permit provided they are properly located and currently licensed. I’ve enclosed a setback
sheet and hi-lited the setbacks you need to be concerned with in this case. ^
The garage is a different case. It could remain where it’s at if you obtain a After the Fact Site
Permit. An After the Fact Site Permit is used in cases where the project meets all the requirements of
the Shoreland Management Ordinance except that a permit was not obtained before the project was
started. We could have issued a permit for this structure in 1982 if one had been applied for.
For you information, you could apply for a regular $75 Site Permit for the garage but this would
involve relocating the garage. The new location would have to meet all the current requirements of
the Shoreland Management Ordinance. Again, refer to the enclosed setback sheet. The fish houses
could be onsite without being currently licensed if they were properly relocated and they were
permitted with a Site Permit. Please contact us if you have any questions.
Please inform this office before March 9, 2001 on how you plan to resolve this matter. I’ve enclosed
a Site Permit Application, graph paper and checklist should you choose to apply for one.
Sincerely
i^,ll ~^^ // /s

Dear Mr. Remer,
I checked your property in response to a complaint. It appeared there were three problem
areas:
1. Cabin addition \ i I,
2. Garage/shed _
3. Fish Houses
Upon returning to the office I reviewed your lake file. I found the cabin issue was
investigated before and it appears to be resolved. Apparently the posts and crossbearn^are
not going to be an addition and will be used only for hanging plants. ___—^
The fish houses and the garage/shed are still a problem. The fish houses must be properly
relocated and must be either currently licensed as fish houses or permitted with a valid Site
Permit. The garage appears to have been built sometime after 1981 in a nonconforming .
location and without a Site Permit.(j-€L4/Sr^-6' ^
Please contact this office before February 27, 2001 in regards to this niatter.

Dear Mr. Remer,
I recently visited this property after a complaint was filed in our
office. The complaint referred to an "addition to a dwelling
maintained by Donald Brown." Mr. Brown was onsite when I
investigated the complaint and found a screen porch addition to the
dwelling. Because the proper permits for the addition were not filed
in this office, a violation has occurred. Mr. Brown agreed to have
this structure removed by November 1, 1998 which will satisfy this
violation.
In the future, a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) will be required for
any changes in the number of or size of dwellings on this property.
This property is considered a "cluster development".
Please call this office if you have any questions. Our number is
