Request permission to replace 3 decks closer to the right-of-way that permitted. The 3
old decks were 2 feet into the right-of-way and were 12’ x 20’, 6’ x 16’ and 12’ x 20’. The
proposed 6’ x 16’ deck on the upper west side is same size as the old one and will be 4
feet from the right-of-way: the proposed 6’ x 24’ deck on the lower east side will replace
the old 12’ X 20’ deck and will be 4 feet from the right-of-way: the proposed 6’ xIO’ deck
on the upper east side will replace the old 12’ x 20’ deck and will be 4 feet from the
right-of-way.
I UNDERSTAND THAT I HAVE APPLIED FOR A VARIANCE FROM THE REQUIREMENTS OF THE SHORELAND
MANAGEMENT ORDINANCE/SUBDIVISION CONTROLS ORDINANCE OF OTTER TAIL COUNTY.

■fter discussion and consideration, Paul Larson made a motion, second by Steve Schierer and unanimously carried, to approve the
ariances as requested for the proposed decks vi/ith the following conditions: 1.) the decks cannot exit towards/unto the road and 2.
)tter Tail County is not responsible for any damage to the decks that might result from normal road maintenance/construction. The
oard noted that the proposed development is repair to the existing structure and will be an improvement over the existing
evelopment.

Kile Bergren - Approved the variance as requested. (7:03 p.m.)
Kile Bergren, Lot 2 Cedar Park Club, Swan Lake in Dane Prairie Township, requested a variance of approximately 16’ from
the required top of bluff setback of 30’ and a variance of 4' from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100’ for the
placement of a 6’ by 16' addition 14’ from the top of the bluff and 96’ from the ordinary high water level. The audience was
polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. After discussion and consideration, Paul Larson made
a motion, second by Steve Schierer and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of approximately 16’ from the required
top of bluff setback of 30’ and a variance of 4’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100’ for the placement of
a 6' by 16’ addition 14’ from the top of the bluff and 96’ from the ordinary high water level. The Board noted that the proposed
development is behind the existing structure and away from the bluff.
Mark and LoAnn Amundson - Tabled (7:08 p.m.)
Mark and LoAnn Amundson, Lot 1 Toussaint Heights, Pelican Lake in Scambler Township, requested the following;
1. We would like to build on foundation at sometime in near future.
2. The front of the foundation second floor has been exposed to the weather since the fire. This spring while walking on
it I put my foot through the floor. We want to temporarily enclose the front and fix the floor for safety.
3. This is only a temporary enclosure when we actually build on the foundation we will remove enclosure and meet all
requirements to build. This includes cutting back the foundation.
The variance requested is about 25’
The audience was polled with Dale Larson speaking for the variance as requested. After discussion and consideration, Steve
Schierer made a motion, second by Paul Larson and carried with Leona Zimmerman voting no, to table, with the verbal
agreement of the applicants, this variance application until the November 2, 2006 meeting for additional information regarding
impervious surface coverage. The Board requested that the applicant calculate impervious surface coverage with and without
the boathouse.
Robert J. and Kimbra L. Jossart - Denied. (7:21 P.m.)
Robert J and Kimbra L Jossart, all of Lots 4 and 5 and part of Lot 6, Camp Tynset, Ten Mile Lake in Tumuli Township,
requested a variance of 10’ from the required road right-of-way setback of 20’ for the placement of a 1,716 square foot
storage building 10’ from the road right-of-way/lot line. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the
variance as requested. After discussion and consideration, Steve Schierer made a motion, second by Leona Zimmerman and
carried with Cecil Femling voting no, to deny the variance as requested as no adequate hardship unique to the property had
been shown that would allow for the granting of the variance as requested and noting that the applicants have adequate
space to obtainable a reasonable use of their property without the granting of the variance as requested.

in support of the variance as requested was read for the record. After discussion and consideration, Paul Larson made a
motion, second by Steve Schierer and unanimously carried, to approve the variances as requested for the proposed decks
with the following conditions; 1.) the decks cannot exit towards/unto the road and 2.) Otter Tail County is not responsible for
any damage to the decks that might result from normal road maintenance/construction. The Board noted that the proposed
