Rlaseen 2717 Clearview Burlington. lA 52601 Conditional Use Permit #3041 for campground expansion on East Spirit Lake. No. 56-501. RE: Dear Mr. Klassen: As you are probably aware, your conditional use application for the expansion of your resort was approved by the Otter Tail County Planning Commission provided that your sewage system is of proper size to handle the two unit expansion. According to the information on record in our office, your existing sewage system consists of several septic tanks which have a total capacity of 6500 gallons and 3000 square feet of drainfield. Our records also indicate that you currently have seven rental cabins (assumed two bedrooms each) and 16 recreational campsites. Therefore, your existing sewage system would be required to serve a total of seven rental cabins and 18 recreational campsites. Based on this information, we find that you have sufficient septic tank capacity for the proposed expansion, however, your existing drainfield is approximately 240 square feet short of the minimum required size as set forth in the Sanitation Code of Otter Tail County. Since this is the case, before your proposed expansion may occur, you would have to add approximately 240 square feet of drainfield (sewage system permit required from our office) to your existing sewage system. If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact our office.
