Motion was made by David Holmgren, second by Steve Schierer and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 4’
from the required side lot line setback of 10’ for the placement of a new septic tank and lift tank 6’ from the side lot line
noting the letters from Egge Construction, Inc. and Bill and Charlene Steinhoff as the bases for the Board of
Adjustment’s approval. Hardship is a substandard lot of record and the terrain of the applicant’s property.

Thursday, October 11, 2001
The Otter Tail County Board of Adjustment met Thursday, October 11, 2001, with the following persoris in
attendance:

Call to Order - Randall Mann, Chair, called the meeting of the Board of Adjustment to order at 6:30 p.m.
Minutes Approved -
Hearing no corrections or additions the minutes of the October 4, 2001 meeting was approved as mailed.
The following variance requests were heard:
LeRoy and Rosella Huwe - Approved as a water oriented accessory structure.
LeRoy and Rosella Huwe, Ottertail, MN, requested a variance of 7’ from the required ordinary high water level
setback of 75’ for the conversion of an existing deck into a three season addition to the existing dwelling being ;
located 68’ from the ordinary high water level. The property is described as Lot 5, Block 1, Round Lake
Retreat, Round Lake in Rush Lake Township. Letters from Gary and Sheila Henstorf and from Jeff and Sheila ,
Granst in support of the applicants’ request were read for the record. The audience was polled with no one
speaking for or against the request. After consideration and discussion, motion was made by Steve Schierer,' .
second by Mark Steuart and unanimously carried, to approve the proposed deck conversion as a 264 square
foot water oriented accessory structure with the following conditions: that the proposed development must be ; .
placed at least 40’ from the side lot lines and that the proposed development must not exceed the maximum
allowable height of 10’. It was noted that approval of the applicants’ request as a building addition would not \
have been consistent with past actions of the board as the proposed three season addition would be ahead of
the string line, therefore, the applicants’ proposal is being considered and classified as the property’s: water
oriented accessory structure with all requirements, except for the area, of a water oriented accessory structure ;
being met.
Solingers Resort - Approved as requested.
Solingers Resort, Pelican Rapids, MN, requested a variance of 4’ from the required side lot line setback of 10'
for the placement of a new septic tank and lift 6’ from the side lot line. The property is described as Lots 1 and
the South Half of Lot 2, Nelson’s Outlook Beach, Lake Lida in Lida Township. The audience was polled with
no one speaking for or against the request. A letter from Egge Construction, Inc. noting written approval from .
Bill and Charlene Steinhoff, the neighboring property owners, for the placement of the septic tank in the
proposed location was read for the record. This letter also noted the reasons why the septic tank needed to
be placed in this location. After consideration and discussion, motion was made by David Holmgren, second
by Steve Schierer and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 4’ from the required side loLline setback
of 10’ for the placement of a new septic tank and lift tank 6’ from the side lot line noting the letters from Egge
Construction, Inc. and Bill and Charlene Steinhoff as the bases for the Board of Adjustment’s approval.
