Minnesota 55431 The following are corrections or requests for additional information necessary before construction of your project; All food and beverage service equipment must meet the applicable standards of NSF International. This includes being constructed by an NSF authorized manufacturer or fabricator. 1. Any alteration to the approved piece of equipment renders that equipment null and void as NSF approved. 2. Primary food preparation surfaces (tables/counters) must be of stainless steeT construction in compliance with Standard No. 2 of NSF International. 3. Canopy and hood construction must meet the applicable standards of NSFInternational. Additionally, the requirements of the Minnesota Uniform Mechanical Code (Section 2000) covering commercial kitchen ventilation systems must also be met. ■ 4. Provide a minimum of a three-compartment sink meeting the applicablestandards of NSF International with two integrally attached drainboards in the utensil washing area. Bar glass washing sinks are not acceptable for food utensil washing and sanitizing. 5. Provide and routinely use a chemical test kit to determine the strength ofthe sanitizing agent in the final rinse water of the three-compartmentutensil washing sink. 6. Approved walk-in flooring materials includes the following; a. Properly fabricated and installed stainless steel.b. Properly installed quarry tile or factory provided. 7. The review is based upon the supposition that the data on which the design is based are correct, and that necessary legal authority has been obtained to construct the project. The responsibility for the design of structural features and the efficiency of equipment must be taken by the project designer. Approval is contingent upon satisfactory disposition of any requirements included in this report. Special care should be taken to insure that the material and installation of the plumbing system are in accordance with the provisions of the Minnesota Plumbing Code. A copy of the approved plans and specifications should be retained at the project location for future reference. A set of the identified plans and specifications is being returned to Glenz Plumbing. INSPECTIONS: All plumbing installations must be tested and inspected in accordance with the requirements of the Minnesota Plumbing Code. As specified in Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2830, no plumbing work may be covered prior to completing the required tests and inspections. Provisions must be made for applying an air test at the time of the roughing-in inspection as outlined in Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2820, subpart 2, of the code. A manometer test, as specified in Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2820, subpart 3, is required at the time of the finished plumbing inspection. It is the responsibility of the contractor/installer to notify the §tate Health Department when the installation will be ready for a test and inspection. The revised plans indicate that the sump located in the lower level is to receive clean water when winterizing the water distribution system and that this sump is to discharge outside to grade. The following comments pertain to the installation of this sump; a. The sump may only receive clean water and may not receive the waste from any floor drains or other fixtures. b. A gate and check valve must be installed on the sump discharge line. viMt. The trap serving the sink must be protected from freezing and provisions must be made to prohibit rainwater from entering the sink. Full-way valves must be provided at all locations described under Minnesota Rules, part 4715.1800, including the following locations: 3. a. At the water service entrance to the building. b. On the discharge side of the water meter. c. On the cold water supply line to the water heater. 4.Changes in direction in drainage piping must be made by appropriate use of wyes and bends. Sanitary tees are not allowed where the direction of flow changes from either vertical to horizontal or horizontal to horizontal (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2410). 5.Water closets in public bathrooms must have elongated bowls with open-front seats. 6.The copper water distribution piping must meet ASTM Standard B 88. All solder and flux used for the potable water distribution systems shall contain less than 0.2 percent lead. Use of 50-50 solder or flux containing more than 0.2 percent lead is prohibited in potable water distribution systems. Any solder other than 95-5 tin-antimony or 96-4 tin-silver must be specifically approved by the administrative authority prior to use (see Minnesota Statutes, Section 326.371). 7.Solvent weld joints in PVC and CPVC pipe must include use of a primer which is of contrasting color to the pipe and cement (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.0810, subpart 2). 8.The water piping system shall be disinfected in accordance with Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2250. 9.The plumbing system shall be tested in accordance with Minnesota Rules, part 4715.2820. 10. All plumbing shall be installed in accordance with the Minnesota Plumbing Code (see Minnesota Rules, part 4715.0320). NOTE(S): 1. The scope of this project consists of the remodeling of an existing building. The plumbing installation includes a bathroom, a three-compartment sink, a two-compartment sink, a one-compartment sink, a pre­ rinse sink, a dishwasher, hand sinks, an ice machine, a circular wash sink, and a clear water sump. 2. This building will be served by an existing private well and individual sewage treatment system. The sewage treatment system is to be reviewed by the Otter 'fiil County Office of Land and Resource Management for compliance with Minnesota Rules, Chapter 7080. Any alteration to the approved piece of equipment renders that equipment null and void as NSF approved. 2. Primary food preparation surfaces (tables/counters) must be of stainless steel construction in compliance with Standard No. 2 of NSF International. 3. Canopy and hood construction must meet the applicable standards of NSF International. Additionally, the requirements of the Minnesota Uniform Mechanical Code (Section 2000) covering commercial kitchen ventilation systems must also be met. 4. Provide a minimum of a three-compartment sink meeting the applicablestandards of NSF International with two integrally attached drainboards in the utensil washing area. Bar glass washing sinks are not acceptable for food utensil washing and sanitizing. 5. Provide and routinely use a chemical test kit to determine the strength ofthe sanitizing agent in the final rinse water of the three-compartment utensil washing sink. 6. Approved walk-in flooring materials includes the following: a. Properly fabricated and installed stainless steel.b. Properly installed quarry tile or factory provided. 7. Walk-in cooler shelving must be NSF International approved stainless steel,factory precoated epoxy, or other materials designed for this typeenvironment. Chrome shelving is not approved. Install a sufficient number of vapor-proof light fixtures In the walk-in cooler and/or freezer to provide a minimum of 10 foot-candles of light throughout the unlt(s). A separate on-site Inspection will be conducted by the state plumbing Inspector to determine compliance with the Minnesota Plumbing Code. All hot water generating equipment (water heaters) must comply with Standard No. 5 of NSF International, and be of adequate capacity to meet the anticipated demand of the establishment.
