As I mentioned on the phone, the area has been staked. You or anyone from your office are welcome to come and look over the site. Both the platform and bench seating will be built on posts which we will put in the ground. The platform will be an average of 2 to 3 feet high and will not have a railing. If you have any questions or concerns, please call me at 338-2511 or 338-5351 (H). We plan to start building June 27. Local residents have stated that the ciiannel is unnavig- able and that, further, the Lutheran Island Camp has dono little to mitigate the navigation problem, Tho pornit v;as issued with the understanding that the roadway would not be a navigation obstruction. On November 10, 1971, tho Department requested information from the Lutheran Camp attoriioys (Williams, Nelson, and Nits) on the channel maintenance procedures the camp v/ao emplpying. No responso to this inquiry has becxi recelvod, VJo can only concludo that the laaintonanco has not been done or that it has nob been sucessful in its execution. In either case, tho provisions of this permit have boon violated. The Department, therefore, is revoking Permit P.A. 51-7 due to tho failure of the permittee to comply x/ith tho provisions of that permit. The navigation culvert must be removed and plans for a bridge ennssing of 30 foot span or greater submitted by June 1, 1973. Installation of the bridge span v/ill not remove your liability to provide any necessary maintenance of the channel to provide safe navigation. But the bridge should make maintenance work more accessible. Should you x/ish to discuss this matter further, do not hesitate to contact this office. Very truly yours. Gone liollonstoin.
