Conditional Use Permit - Covenant Capital LLC, Darrin Trites: Discussion took place regarding the language in the Planning Commission recommendation to deny a multiple family rental business in a single family residential home. Neighbor, Steve Zimmerman, provided the commissioners with his explanation of what has occurred at the rental home and expressed his opinion that any rental (even to single families) is a commercial venture. The County Attorney indicated that Otter Tail County’s zoning under the Shoreland Management Ordinance prohibits multi-family rentals in a single family residential classification. Motion by Lindquist, second by Froemming, and unanimously carried to deny a Conditional Use Permit for a multiple family rental business (commercial use) because it is incompatible with the existing single family residential nature of the area.
