Brad Drenttel - Approved
Brad Drenttel, Morris, MN and Mary Drenttel, Clitherall, MN, requested a variance of 1’ 4” from the
required side lot line setback of 10’ for an addition to an existing dwelling 8’ 8” from the side lot line. The
property is described as Lots 9 and 10, Fair Oaks, West Battle Lake in Girard Township. The audience
was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made John
Everts, seconded by Craig Anderson and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 1’ 4’ from the
required side lot line setback of 10' for an addition to an existing dwelling 8’ 8” from the side lot line. It
was noted that the variance is necessary due to the bias lot lines. Hardship being the terrain of the
applicant’s property.
Gary D. Benson - Approved
Gary D. Benson, Dent, MN, requested a variance of 5’ from the required road right-of-way setback of
20’ for the construction of a duplex 15’ from the road right-of-way and a variance to increase the number
of units located within the first tier. The appUeant would be increasing the resort from 10 to 12 units. The
new units would be approximately 185’ from the lake or approximately 15’ into the first tier. The property
is described as Outlet A and part of Lot 1 Block 1, Cozy Cove Subdivision - Heinrich Beach, Marion Lake
in Dead Lake Township. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. A
letter from B. David Aho opposing the applicant’s request was read for the record. A letter from the Dead
Lake Township Board in favor of a 5’ variance from the required road right-of-way setback of 20’ was
read for the record. After consideration, motion was made by Craig Anderson, seconded by Robert
Schwartz and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 5’ from the required road right-of-way
setback of 20’ for the construction of a proposed 24’ by 52’ duplex being no closer than 15’ to the road
right-of-way and being no closer than 180’ to the ordinary high water level.
Roland L. Okerstrom - Approved
Roland L. Okerstrom, Fergus Falls, MN, requested a variance of 8’ 6” from the required maximum height
of a non-dwelling structure of 18’ for the construction of a 52’ by 72’ addition to an existing building
having a height of 26’ 6”. The property is described as Lot 2, Block 1, Wingers Orchard, Spring Lake in
Aurdal Township. The audience was polled with Verlin Menze, Aurdal Town Board Chairman and Zoning

Dennis M. Iverson - Approved
Dennis M. Iverson, Perham, MN, requested a variance of 2’ 6” from the required side lot line setback of
10’ for the location of an attached garage 7’ 6” from the side lot line. The property is described as part of
Government Lot 2, Section 14 of Edna Township by Paul Lake. The audience was polled with no one
speaking for or against the request. A letter from Donald Meyer in favor of the applicant’s request was
read for the record. After consideration, motion was made by John Everts, seconded by Craig Anderson
and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 2’ 6” from the required side lot line setback of 10’ for
the location of an attached garage 7’ 6” from the side lot line. Hardship being a substandard lot of
record. It was noted that a 14’ by 24’ garage which is located very close to the side lot line will be
removed resulting in a net improvement to the applicant’s property. It was also noted that the side lot
