We Wish to request a variatKie frooi the requirenent of the Minnesota Health
Code 7HCAB 1.217 Faragra.pt D. and £. for Unique Well #196869.
On April 25, 1984 ve were contracted to install a well and water aj/mtea
for Jean Glassmeyer at her cottage on Lake Lissle. We were shown the
location of the neighbors holding taidc, and the proposed location of the
customers holding tank to be iimtalled by another contract&r in the future.
After measurements were made by ua, a location of the well was chosen which
we believed to be in o<s&pliance with all set back distances.
^e well was ccw^leted on May 1, 1984. May 4t 1984 ve returmd to the job-
site to grout around the well, install the pitless unit, a»l the water systea.
The general contractor observed all our wcndc that day iroluding the grouting
operation. The holding tazdc was inetalled by the septic ^jtsten contractor,
and the sewerlii^ was ended 2 feet from the cottage wall or 21 feet frc»
the well. This was approved by the Ottertail County Inspector. The inspector
decided to measmra from the well to the neighbors holding tank and after
digging down to find the closest part of the taidc, ve found the distance frtw
the taxdc to the well to be 49 feet. I agreed to seek a variuoce frc»B the
county codes which 1 have since done. Later, the severline waa ctxnpletad by a
plumbing contractor which brought the distance from the sewerline to the well
to 19 feet. The well was chlorinated on Mey 4» 1984 and a water sample was
taken 6, 1984 and sent in under the Unique Well #196869*

It is luider these circumstances that 1 am applyiz^ for a variance. I do
realise that variaiwes are supposed to be applied for before the well is
(trilled, and I assure you ve are not going to aaka a habit of this.
