new dwelling no closer to the ordinary high water level than the previous dwelling with the following conditions: that
the existing boat house must be removed prior to starting construction on the new dwelling, that no water - oriented
accessory structure can be placed on this lot in the future, and that no more than 25% of the total lot area can be
covered with impervious surfaces. Hardship being a substandard lot of record.

Gail Johnson - Approved
Gail Johnson, Fergus Falls, MN, requested a variance of 50’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of
100’ for the construction of a 10’ by 15’ addition to the south side of an existing dwelling. The property is described as
Lot 7, Riverview Lane, Otter Tail River in Aurdal Township. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or
against the request. After consideration, motion was made by Randall Mann, seconded by Craig Anderson and
unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 50’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100’ for the
construction of a 10’ by 15’ addition to the south side of an existing dwelling. It was noted that this is a very
reasonable request and that the addition will be no closer to the ordinary high water level than the existing dwelling. It
should also be noted that the applicant’s property is located on a point.
Douglas Henry Dunker - Approved
Douglas Henry Dunker, Battle Lake, MN, requested a variance of 2’ from the required 18’ maximum height of a non
dwelling structure for the construction of a 76’ by 162’ structure having a height of 20’. The property is described as
part of the Northwest Quarter of the Southwest Quarter, Section 27 of Everts Township by Silver Lake. The audience
was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by Craig Anderson,
seconded by Cecil Femling and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 2’ from the required 18’ maximum
height of a non-dwelling structure for the construction of a 76’ by 162’ one story structure having a height of 20’. It
was noted that the applicant’s property is just within the 1,000’ shoreland area, that the building will be used for a
commercial purpose and that the construction of the rafters will restrict a second story.
David L. Wanner - Approved
David L. Wanner, Fargo, ND, requested a variance to change the cabin’s existing shed style roof area to a gable roof
system and a variance to remodel the gable end wall by adding two terrace doors, by adding two triangular gable
windows and by repairing/replacing any water damaged materials. It should be noted that the existing cabin is
approximately 44’ from the ordinary high water level and that the proposed remodeling plans do not increase the
overall size of the living area. The property is described as Lot 34, National Community Service Camp, West
McDonald Lake in Dora Township. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After
consideration, motion was made by Randall Mann, seconded by Craig Anderson and unanimously carried, to approve
a variance to change the cabin’s existing shed style roof area to a gable roof system and to approve a variance to
remodel the gable end wall by adding two terrace doors, by adding two triangular gable windows and by repairing
and/or replacing any water damaged materials. It was noted that the proposed changes will be no closer to the
ordinary high water level than the existing structure and no additional living area will be created by the proposed
changes.
Craig Michael Christianson - Approved
Craig Michael Christianson, Valley City, ND, requested a variance to install a 6’ privacy fence on the west side of the
applicant’s property line. The privacy fence would start 25’ back from the shoreline and would be 100’ in length. The
property is described as Lot 14, Block 1, Deerpath at Crystal, Lake Crystal in Lida Township. The audience was
polled with no one speaking for or against the request. A letter from Doug and June Berg opposing the variance
request was read for the record. After consideration, motion was made by Craig Anderson, seconded by Cecil
Femling and carried with John Everts voting no, to approve the installation of a 6’ privacy fence 10’ from the west side
lot line, 20’ from the road right-of-way and with the installation of the fence starting from the lowest point of the ice
ridge (fence cannot go across the ice ridge).
Robert and Phyllis Andersson - Approved
Robert and Phyllis Anderson, Fargo, ND, requested a variance of 32’ from the required ordinary high water level
setback of 75’ and a variance to cover approximately 28% of the total lot area with impervious surfaces. The property
is described as Lot 49, Provan Beach, Pelican Lake in Dunn Township. The audience was polled with no one
speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by Randall Mann, seconded by John
