Ken Brustad - Approved the variance application as modified. (8:10 p.m.)
Ken Brustad, Lot 24 Okeson Beach, Eagle Lake in Eagle Lake Township, requested a variance of 37.5’ from the
required ordinary high water level setback of 75’ for the construction of a new dwelling 37.5’ from the ordinary high
water level. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. After discussion
and consideration, Michael Harris made a motion, second by Carl Zick and unanimously carried, to approve a
variance of 15’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 75’ for the construction of a new dwelling 60’
from the ordinary high water level. It was noted that the proposed development and the variance as approved will be
a great improvement to the property. It was also noted that the applicant’s development will be further back than the
development on the property to the north.
Dale Formo and Ronald Carey - Approved the variance application as modified. (8:15 p.m.)
Dale Formo and Ronald Carey, part of the Northwest Quarter of the Northeast Quarter, Section 14 of Buse Township
by an unnamed lake, requested the following: Roof height from 25’ to 26’. Site Permit No. 24111. Variance for 25’
was approved on September 6, 2007. Additional T for snow load. The audience was polled with no one speaking for
or against the variance as requested. After discussion and consideration, Michael Harris made a motion, second by
Paul Larson and unanimously carried, to approve the variance as described in the application dated April 8, 2008. It
was noted that the proposed structure is consistent with other commercially used buildings in this general area.
Marc Nokken - Approved the variance application as requested with a condition. (8:17 p.m.)
Marc Nokken, Lot 6 Morningside Beach, Pelican Lake in Dunn Township, requested a variance of 26.8% from the
maximum allowable impervious surface coverage of 25% for total impervious surface coverage of 51.8% and a
variance of 6’ from the required side lot line setback of 10’ for a 16’ by 30’ second floor addition 4’ from the side lot line
and approximately 45' from the ordinary high water level. David Schmitz, Contractor appeared with the applicant at
the public hearing. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. A letter
from Robert Levos in support of the variance as requested was read for the record. After discussion and
consideration, Steve Schierer made a motion, second by Michael Harris and unanimously carried, to approve a
variance of 6’ from the required side lot line setback of 10’ for a 16’ by 30’ second floor addition 4’ from the side lot line
and approximately 45’ from the ordinary high water level with the condition that no more than 25% of the total
allowable lot area can be covered with impervious surfaces after the completion of the proposed development. It was
noted that the variance as approved does not directly or indirectly grant any other variances for the proposed
development.
Gary and Virginia Knutson - Denied. (8:25 p.m.)
Gary and Virginia Knutson, part of Government Lot 1, Section 7 of Dunn Township by Pelican Lake, requested a
variance of 5’ 7” from the required side lot line setback of 10’ for the placement of a 16’ by 20’ addition to an existing
dwelling 4.3’ from the lot line. Chris Heyer, Surveyor appeared with the applicants at the public hearing. The
audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. After discussion and
consideration, Michael Harris made a motion, second by Paul Larson and unanimously carried, to deny the variance
as requested as no adequate hardship unique to the property had been shown that would allow for the granting of the
variance as requested, the applicants can obtain a reasonable use of the property without the granting of the
requested variance and another alternative which does not require the granting of a variance is available to the
applicants.
Sharon Vaughn - Approved the variance application as requested. (8:31 p.m.)
Sharon Vaughn, Lot 10 Cedar Park Club, Swan Lake in Dane Prairie Township, requested a variance of 44’ from the
required ordinary high water level setback of 100’ for the construction of a new dwelling 56’ from the ordinary high
water level. Presently onsite our impervious surface coverage is 26.7%. Proposing onsite impervious surface
coverage of 23%. Craig Vaughn appeared with the applicant at the public hearing. The audience was polled with no
one speaking for or against the variance as requested. After discussion and consideration, Steve Schierer made a
motion, second by Michael Harris and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 44' from the required ordinary
high water level setback of 100’ for the construction of a new dwelling 56’ from the ordinary high water level noting
that after the completion of the proposed development the total impervious surface coverage will be 23%. It should be
noted that the variance as approved as not directly or indirectly grant any other variances for the development as
proposed.

Re: Marc Nokken variance application - Momingside Beach - Pelican Lake.
I own the property directly east of the Nokken property. I fully support the project that is
being proposed. There is a low area on the back half of our property that retains all rain
water. Even after the heaviest rains in the last 15 years no runoff can reach the lake eind
water will disappear after a few hours. Because of this I don’t feel the low percentage of
impervious surface is a problem.
Thank you for your consideration of this matter.

LAKE OR RIVER NAME & NO.
♦ ♦ ♦ ♦ ♦PER MY DISCUSSION WITH BILL KALAR TODAY REGARDING THE MOTION
FOR THE VARIANCE GRANTED BY THE BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT ON MAY 1,
2008 TO THIS PROPERTY OWNER, THIS IS HIS DECISION.Date .
Action/Comments BILL WOULD WANT THE PROPERTY OWNER TO SUBMIT A “PLAN”
SHOWING HOW THE IMPERVIOUS SURFACE WILL BE REDUCED TO BRING
IT INTO THE 25% OR LESS COMPLIANCE BEFORE WE WOULD ISSUE A SITE
PERMIT. UPON COMPLETION OF THEIR PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT, OUR
OFFICE WOULD THEN VERIFY THAT THIS PLAN HAS BEEN FOLLOWED.
