Lucinda Michalski - Approved
Lucinda Michalski, Wheaton, IL, requested a variance of 10 to 15’ from the required ordinary
high water level setback of 100’ for the construction of a 24’ by 24’ garage 85 to 90’ from the
required ordinary high water level. The property is described as part of Government Lot 5,
Section 21 of Hobart Township by Rose Lake. Gerry Frazier represented the applicant at the
public hearing. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After
consideration, motion was made by Craig Anderson, seconded by Robert Schwartz and
unanimously carried to approve a variance for the construction of a 24’ by 24’ garage as
requested in the applicant’s application, as depicted on the applicant’s drawing and as physical
staked on the applicant’s property. It was noted that this is the best location for the garage.
Hardship is a standard lot of record.
Joanne E. Zinda - Denied
Joanne E. Zinda, Detroit Lakes, MN, requested a variance of 8’ from the required lot line
setback of 10’ for an addition to an existing guesthouse 2’ from the lot line. The property is
described as Lot 4 and the south half of Lot 5, Killarney Beach, Pelican Lake in Dunn Township.
Kelly Raymond represented the applicant at the public hearing. After consideration, motion was
made by Craig Anderson, seconded by Cecil Femling and unanimously carried to deny the
variance as requested noting the variance requested was for a use strictly prohibited by the
ordinance.
Jeanne K. Johnson - Tabled
Jeanne K. Johnson, Plymouth, MN, requested a variance of 4’ from the required lot line setback
of 10’ for a proposed extension of the existing structure footprint and for the addition of a second
floor to the current structure as modified by the proposed extension. The proposed structure
would be 6’ from the common lot line between Lot 4 and Lot 5. The applicant also requested a
variance to place a 10’ by 20’ water - oriented accessory structure 37’ from the south lot line
and 3’ from the north lot line. The required lot line setback for water - oriented accessory
structures on a general development lake is 40’. The property is described as Lot 5, San Dee
Cove Beach, Lake Lida in Lida Township. Richard Johnson and Rick Satter represented the
applicant at the public hearing. The audience was polled with Avis Kay and Muriel Swenson
expressing concerns with the applicant’s request. A letter from A. Conrad Posz was received
and placed on file. The applicant submitted a revised plan for consideration by the Board of
Adjustment and noted that the water - oriented accessory structure had been dropped from the
plans. After discussion and consideration, motion was made by Craig Anderson, seconded by
John Everts and unanimously carried, to table the applicant’s request until the November 6,
1997, meeting so that the applicant would have an opportunity to consider and discuss other
alternatives.
