Mary Nyquist - Approved modified lot line setback, denied road right-of way request and modified impervious surface
coverage request. (7:0S p.m.)
After discussion and consideration, Paul Larson made a motion, second by Ward Uggerud and unanimously carried, to approve a
variance of 3’ from the required side lot line setback of 10’ for the placement of an 18’ by 22’ garage T from the lot line and at
least 20’ from the road right-of-way with the condition that no more than 30% of the total eligible lot area can be covered with
impervious surfaces upon completion of the proposed construction project. The variance as approved will provide the applicant
with a reasonable use of her property. Hardship/practical difficulty is a substandard lot of record. The size of the proposed garage
is reasonable. The applicant’s proposed development is similar to other use in this immediate area. The variances as approved do
not directly or indirectly grant any other variance for the proposed development.

Ivan Grotenliuis, Lot 4 Linda Beach, Clitherall Lake in Clitherall Township, requested the following: Request a
variance of 78.1’ from the required ordinal^ high water level setback of 100’ for the replacement of a 64 square foot
steps and deck with a 442 square foot accessible, open-air ramp and deck 21.9’ at its closet point from the ordinary
high water level. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. Dirk
Grotenhuis represented the applicant at the public hearing. After discussion and consideration, Steve Schierer made a
motion, seconded by David Wass and unanimously earned, to approve the variance as requested for the addition of
the proposed ramp and deck development with the condition that the proposed development cannot exceed 200’
square feet in size. It was noted that the proposed development will be no closer to the ordinary high water level than
the existing development. The variance as approved does not directly or indirectly grant any other variance for the
proposed development.

Mary Nyquist, Lot 25 Broadwater Beach Second Addition, Pelican Lake in Dumi Township, requested the following:
1. Side lot line variance of 5’ from required 10’ setback placing garage 5’ from lot line.
2. Road right-of-way variance of 10’ from required 20’ setback placing garage 10’ from road right-of-way.
3. Requesting a variance on impervious surface - lot is currently at (buildings 28%) total 32.08%. At completion of
project buildings would be at 27.80% and total would be 29.27% with removal of shed (64 square feet) and
sidewalk (166 square feet).
Mike Nyquist the applicant’s son appeared with the applicant at the public hearing. The audience was polled with no
one speaking for or against the variance as requested. A letter from Dunn Township was read for the record. After
discussion and consideration, Paul Larson made a motion, second by Ward Uggerud and unanimously carried, to
approve a variance of 3' from the required side lot line setback of 10’ for the placement of an 18’ by 22’ garage 7’
from the lot line and at least 20’ from the road right-of-way with the condition that no more than 30% of the total
eligible lot area can be covered with impervious surfaces upon completion of the proposed constmetion project. The
variance as approved will provide the applicant with a reasonable use of her property. Hardship/practical difficulty is
a substandard lot of record. The size of the proposed garage is reasonable. The applicant’s proposed development is
similar to other use in this immediate area. The variances as approved do not directly or indirectly grant any other
variance for the proposed development.
Annette Trudeau - Variance application approved as requested. (7:20 p.m.)
Aimctte Tmdeau, Lot 35 Fair Oaks, West Battle Lake in Girard Township, requested the following: Hardship
substandard lot of record and existing placement of dwelling.
1. Requesting to place new addition 47’ from ordinaiy high water level.
2. Requesting variance to exceed 260 square feet of impervious coverage in shore impact zone. Current is at 427
square feet. Proposing to add 60 square feet for a total of 487 square feet.
3. Variance of 12’ from road fright-of-way.
4. Variance to place holding tank 6’ into road right-of-way.
Dwight Nesset appeared with the applicant at the public hearing. The audience was polled with no one speaking for
or against the variance as requested. A letter from Girard Township stating their expectations and requirements was
read for the record. After discussion and consideration, Paul I.arson made a motion, seconded by Dan-en Newville
and unanimously carried, to approve the variance as requested in the application dated May 16, 2016 and as depicted
on the drawing submitted with the variance application. The proposed development will be no closer to the ordinary
high water level than the existing development. Hardship/practical difficulty is a substandard lot of record. The
variances as approved do not directly or indirectly grant any other variance for the proposed development.
