Peter G. Murch - Variance application approved as requested. (7:00 p.m.)
After discussion and consideration, Paul Larson made a motion, second by Ward Uggerud and carried with Tom Lee
voting no, to approve a variance of 80’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100’ for the placement of
a deck and cabin 20’ and 30’ respectively back from the ordinary high water level and to approve a variance of 60’
from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100’ for the placement of garage 40’ from the ordinary high
water level. The proposed development was approved as depicted on the drawing submitted with the variance
application dated April 10, 2016. Hardship/practical difficulty is the wetland (terrain features) and a substandard lot.
The proposed development will be further from the ordinary high water level than the existing development. It was
also noted that the proposed development will place more than 260 square feet of impervious surface within the shore
impact zone. It was noted that there is no other place available on the applicant’s property for this development. The
variances as approved do not directly or indirectly grant any other variances for the proposed development.

The Otter Tail County Board of Adjustment met Thursday, May 12, 2016, with the following persons in

Called to Order - Steve Schierer, Chair called the meeting of the Board of Adjustment to order at 6:00 p.m.
Minutes Approved - The Board of Adjustment approved the minutes of the April 14, 2016 meeting as mailed.
Presentation - Land and Resource Management Department (6:00 - 6:50 p.m.)
Bill Kalar, Land and Resource Management Director reviewed the significant changes found in the recently
amended Shoreland Management Ordinance and Sanitation Code, as well as the recently adopted Dock and
Riparian Use Ordinance.
Approximate Break of 10 minutes.
The Board of Adjustment considered the following applications for variance:

Peter G. Murch, part of Government Lot 1, Section 2 of Dunn Township by Little Pelican Lake, requested
the following: Requesting a variance of 80’ from the ordinary high water level setback to replace a

The Otter Tail County Board of Adjustnient-met Thursday, June 7, 1984,
in the County Board Roan, Otter Tail County Courthouse, Fergus Falls, MN with the
following members present:
George Walter
Craig Anderson
June Ryan
Ton Stringer
John Everts
Chairman Walter opened the meeting at 7:00 p.ra and hearing no ob
jections or corrections, declared the minutes of the May meeting approved as mailed.

The following variance request applications were considered:
Laveme Murch, Hollsboro, ND, requested permission to construct a 16
to existing cabin, on a 70' x 70' parcel in G.L. 1, Section 2, Dunn Township.
X 20' addition
After
consideration, motion was made by George Walter to approve, on the basis of a small
lot, proposed addition to be built farther fron lake than present structure. Ihe
motion was seconded by Craig Andersen and carried with Ton Stringer voting "no".
Lloyd Hanson, Moorhead, MN, requested permission to build a replacement garage 24' x
24', 40' from road, on Lot 1, Block 2, Crystal-Lida Beaches, Lida Township.AFter
consideration, motion was made by Craig Anderson to grant an 8' variance from Lida
Street, 18' variance fron Highway #4, proposed construction to be an irtprovement
The motion was seconded by John Evertsover the existing garage, substandard lot.
and carried.
Wdyne Slotten, Dent, MN, requested permission to allow a partially ootpleted garage
to remain and be finished, 4' fron road right-of-way and 2' from closest lot line,
on Lot 8, Block 2, Engstrem's-Beach, Edna /Township. After consideration . and after i
listening to the various interested parties,, including letters received, motion was
made by Ton Stringer to deny approval, no ladequate hardship shown to allow placement
in this location. The motion was seconded by Credg Anderson and carried.
