Don Lundrigan - Approved as requested. (7:55 p.m.)
Don Lundrigan, Pelican Rapids, MN, requested a variance of 30’ from the required bluff impact zone
setback of 30’ for the placement of a 24” by 24” pad 0’ from the top of the bluff. The 24” by 24” pad is
needed to support a bean that will allow me to remodel the upper floor of my home. This post will allow me
to not disturb any earth for the placement of footings because the area under the new addition will remain
untouched. The home wiil be no wider than the original structure as viewed from the front and will be no
closer to the lake. The remodeling effort will require that I remove the lakeside 18’ by 26’ of the A frame
and replace it with the remodeled structure. This will be supported by the old foundation and the new part
supported by the post/piling in the southwest corner that will enable the new structure to be open
underneath and not disturb the existing ground. The property is described as Lots 23 and 24, Block 3, Lida
Shores, Lake Lida in Lida Township. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the
request. After discussion and consideration, motion was made by Cecil Femling, second by Paul Larson
and unanimously carried, to approve the variance as requested noting that there would be no significant
impact to the bluff zone area and no significant change to the footprint of the building.
