Motion
Keith Alan Englund - Approved
Motion was made by John Everts, seconded by Craig Anderson and unanimously carried, to approve a
variance of 70’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 200’ for the location of a building site 130’
from the ordinary high water level noting that the granting of this variance provides the applicant with a
reasonable use of his property without adversely affecting the intent of the ordinance. It was noted that this is
the best location on this existing lot of record and it should be noted that an adequate sewer plan has been
discussed with the Land and Resource Department.

Keith Alan Englund - Approved
Keith Alan Englund, Glenwood, MN, requested a variance of 70’ from the required ordinary high water
level setback of 200’ for the location of a building site 130’ from the ordinary high water level. The
property is described as that part of the Northwest Quarter lying westerly of the township road, Section
30 of Eagle Lake Township by an unnamed lake. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or
against the request. After consideration, motion was made by John Everts, seconded by Craig
Anderson and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 70’ from the required ordinary high water
level setback of 200’ for the location of a building site 130’ from the ordinary high water level noting that
the granting of this variance provides the applicant with a reasonable use of his property without
adversely affecting the intent of the ordinance. It was noted that this is the best location on this existing
lot of record and it should be noted that an adequate sewer plan has been discussed with the Land and
Resource Department.
Bruce Middaugh - Approved
Bruce Middaugh, Fargo, ND, requested a variance of 8’ from the required lot line setback of 10’ for the
placement of a drain field 2’ from the lot line. The property is described as the South Half of Lots 23
and 24, Crystal Hills First Addition, Section 2 of Lida Township by Lake Crystal. The audience was
polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by
Randall Mann, seconded by Craig Anderson and unanimously carried, to approve the variance as
requested provided the affected neighbor provides a written statement approving the location of the
applicant’s drain field 2’ from the lot line. Hardship is a substandard lot of record.
James and Barbara Ebert - Approved
James and Barbara Ebert, Dent, MN, requested a variance “to replace an 8’ by 30’ travel trailer with an
8’ by 39’ travel trailer and be able to keep my existing screen porch and storage shed with no new
construction.” The property is described as Lot 25, Eberts North Star Resort in Government Lot 4,
Section 36 of Dora Township by Star Lake. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or
against the request. Tom Bennett appeared along with the applicant at the public hearing. After
consideration, motion was made by George Walter, seconded by John Everts to deny the variance as
requested noting that when a new structure is being placed on a lot it should be brought into
compliance as much as possible. After additional discussion and consideration this motion was
withdrawn and the following motion was offered by John Everts, seconded by George Walter and
unanimously carried, to permit the replacement of an existing 8’ by 30’ travel trailer with an 8’ by 39’
travel trailer provided the existing 8’ by 10’ shed is removed from the lot and no further construction
occurs on the lot. It was noted that the existing screen porch would remain on the lot.

addition to the rear of the existing cabin 45’ from the ordinary high water level. It was noted that the
