Your proposal for a change in roof designs was taken before the Board of Adjustment (Board) at their meeting in July. After reviewing the Variance that was approved August 3, 2O0O, the Board decided it was the responsibility of our office to decide if a new variance was required and their responsibility was to act on any new Variance request (see copy of minutes from July 5, 2001). Bill Kalar, Administrator, reviewed your plans again and decided that your first proposal for a roof extension to make the new addition fit in with the current design would be permitted without an additional Variance. However, should you decided to redesign the roofline as you proposed with additional living space above you would need to file for a new Variance. 1 am returning a copy of your letter and the drawings you submitted with it. The question was whether or not either of these two designs required the submission of a new variance application. The general consent of the Board of Adjustment was that the office should make that decision and that the responsibility of the Board of Adjustment was to decide whether or not to grant variances as requested. Denton O. Baumbarger - After discussion and consideration, the Board of Adjustment, with Richard Sha abstaining, voted to recommend that the variance previously granted for Denton O. Baumbarger on Thursday, July 5, 2001 should be re-examined and reconsidered since a significant fact concerning the road has come to the attention of the Land and Resource Department. A new plan with revised measurements and with a new impervious surface calculation should be prepared and presented. With no further business. Chairman Mann, declared the meeting adjourned at 9:36 p.m. Wayne Stein, Secretary i FILE MEMO - PARCEL #18000110077004/ 18OO0140093019 PROPERTY OWNER: DAVID & CAROL PLACE EAGLE LAKE (56-253) 7/6/01 (Joyce) Mr. Place came in to find out if he could “amend” the roof design for his proposed addition (approved by BOA 8/3/00). Mr. Place decided to make the addition smaller (10’ x 28’ rather'than 10’x 40’). The amended roof design would extend the roofline higher to allow for more room (loft) under the roof and would actually rotate the roofline 90 degrees from current. I told him that I thought it might require another Variance from the BOA since he wanted to “add” to the dwelling. He wasn’t happy about that option; I offered to discuss it with Bill Kalar sometime during the week of 7/9/01 (Bill was out of the office until then). Mr. Place left his amended design drawings and phone number. 7/11/01 (Joyce) Talked with Bill about Mr. Place’s proposed amendment to his design. Bill said that since the BOA had approved the addition (and roofline) on 8/3/00, the amended plan could be taken before the BOA (at their next scheduled meeting) by our office representative. The BOA could determine if they would approve the amended design or if Mr. Place would need to file for another Variance. I called Mr. Place; left a message on his answering machine about Bill’s decision. Mr. Place stopped into the office later in the morning and wrote an explanation of his request so that I could put it with the amended drawings that he had provided. I told him the next regularly scheduled meeting of the BOA wasn’t until August 2, 2001.
