It was noted that the proposed site is a very good location. It was also noted that the deck could remain ahead of the 130’ setback only if it was less than 3’ in height. The motion failed with Randall Mann, George Walter, Bert Olson and Cecil Femling voting no. After additional consideration, motion was made by Randall Mann to approve a variance of 50’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 200’ for a structure setback of 150’. This motion dies for the lack of a second. After additional consideration and discussion, motion was made by George Walter, seconded by Cecil Femling and carried, with John Everts voting no, to deny the variance as requested noting that the applicants have a large parcel of land that should provide a building site that meets the requirements of the ordinance and noting that the gazebo must 10’ or less in height to remain ahead of the 200’ setback should the applicants proceed to construct a new dwelling. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. The property is described as Lot 25, Block 1, Brightwood Shoreline, Dead Lake in Star Lake Township. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by Randall Mann, seconded by Cecil Femling and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 100’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 200’ for the placement of a 12’ by 12’ shed at least 100’ from the ordinary high water level. Curtis Osmondson - Approved Curtis Osmondson, Underwood, MN, requested a variance of 5’ from the required septic tank setback of 10’ for the placement of an 18’ by 30’ garage 5’ from the septic tank and 80’ from the ordinary high water level. The property is described as Lots 3 and 4, Wall’s Lost Lake Beach, East Lost Lake in Sverdrup Township. Beryl Osmondson represented the applicant at the public hearing. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by John Everts, seconded by Cecil Femling and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 5’ from the required septic tank setback of 10’ for the placement of an 18’ by 30’ garage 5’ from the septic tank, 80’ from the ordinary high water level and 10’ from the lot line. It was noted the applicant’s proposal is an improvement over the existing situation. Hardship is a substandard lot of record. iJ /.
