After discussion and consideration, Rod Boyer made a motion, second by Michael Harris and unanimously carried, to
approve a variance of 70’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100’ and a variance of 20’ from the
required shore impact zone setback of 50’ for the placement of a 24’ by 28’ garage 30’ from the ordinary high water
level of East Battle Lake. The Board noted that this is the best location for the proposed structure and the variance as
approved will provide the applicants with a reasonable use of their property.

Township, requested a variance of 58’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100’ and a
variance of 8’ from the required shore impact zone setback of 50’ for the placement of an addition to an
existing structure 42’ from the ordinary high water level. The audience was polled with no one speaking
for or against the variance as requested. After discussion and consideration, Steve Schierer made a
motion, second by Paul Larson and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 58’ from the required
ordinary high water level setback of 100’ and a variance of 8’ from the required shore impact zone setback
of 50’ for the placement of an addition to an existing structure 42’ from the ordinary high water level as
depicted on the drawing submitted with the variance application.

East Battle Lake in Girard Township, requested a variance of 70’ from the required ordinary high water
level setback of 100’ and a variance of 20’ from the required shore impact zone setback of 50’ for the
placement of a 24’ by 28’ garage 30’ from the ordinary high water level of East Battle Lake. The audience
was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. After discussion and

Ronald and Linda Bjelland - Approved the variance as modified with a condition (8:43 p.m.)
Ronald and Linda Bjelland and Rush Lake Township, Lot 7 Oak Grove Beach, Rush Lake in Rush Lake
Township, requested a variance of 20’ from the required road right-of-way setback of 20’, a variance of 3’
from the required back lot line setback of 10’, a variance of 7’ from the side lot line setback of 10’ and a
variance of 5’ from the required structure setback of 10’ for the placement of drain field up to and into the
road right-of-way, 7’ from the back lot line, 3’ from the side lot line and 5’ from an existing garage. A letter
from Andrew Klinnert, Rush Lake Township Chairman, indicating no objections to the variance as
requested was read for the record. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the
variance as requested. After discussion and consideration, Steve Schierer made a motion, second by Paul
Larson and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 20’ from the required road right-of-way setback
of 20’, a variance of 3’ from the required back lot line setback of 10’ and a variance of 7’ from the required
side lot line setback of 10’ for the placement of drain field up to and into the road right-of-way, 7’ from the
back lot line, 3’ from the side lot line with the condition that the proposed septic systems must be placed in
a location which is at least 10’ from the structure located on Lot 6. Hardship is a substandard lot of record.
Gary A. and Linda Layman - Approved the variance as requested with a condition. (8:48 p.m.)
Gary A and Linda Layman, Lot 2 Sunny Beach Resort, Little Pine Lake in Gorman Township, requested a
variance of 24’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 75’ for the placement of an addition
5T from the ordinary high water level. An email from Gary and Linda Layman appointing Marv Monson as
there representative was noted for the record. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or
against the variance as requested. After discussion and consideration, Paul Larson made a motion,
second by Steve Schierer and carried with Cecil Femling voting no, to approve a variance of 24’ from the
required ordinary high water level setback of 75’ for the placement of an addition 51 ’ from the ordinary high
water level with the condition that no more than 25% of the total lot area can be covered with impervious
surfaces. The Board noted that the proposed addition will be no closer to the ordinary high water level
than the existing structure.
