express your views on the variance requested.
The property concerned in the application is legally described as

The variance requested is:
When applying for site permit on 06/08/90, Was given the new ammendments of 04/01/90.
Planned to build a 26'x38' garage with living area and loft. Total structure height
of 24 ft., to be used as summer living quarters and storage v^ile building a retirement
home on the same lot. After the retirement home is coirpleted the garage with the loft
would be used as storage area and for occasional guest sleeping. These plans are not
legal under the new ammendment. Would like a meet & bounds, variance to divide the lot
in two legal size lots to make original plans legal.
The parcel # 1 is 2^ acres or 110,00 sq. ft. with over 400 feet of shoreline.
Parcel lA would be a little over 40,000 sq. ft. with over 150 feet of shoreline.
This would leave the original parcel #1 with over 250 feet of shoreline and about
70,000 sq. ft. or an acre & k-

The Otter Tail County Board of Adjustment met Ihursday, Aixfust 2,
1990 with the following persons in attendance:
John Everts
Craig Anderson
George Walter
Carl Johnson
Dan Oehler
Victor Petterson, Jr.
Chairran Walter called the meeting to order at 6:30, and hearing no
dejections or corrections to the minutes of the July meeting, declared
sane approved as mailed.
CALL TO ORDER
MINUTES APPROVED
The following requests for variance were heard:
Mary J. Shirley, Hopkins, MN, requested permission to have a second
dwelling on Lot 13, Roniez Beach, Otter Tail I,ake in Amor Township.
After consideration, motion was made by Craig Anderson, seconded by
Carl Johnson and carried, Petterson absent during vote, to deny, no
adequate hardship shown.
SHIRLEY - DENIED
Elroy L. Koenen, I'test Fargo, ND, requested permission to put trailer
or bunkhouse, as a second <i^felling on Lot 2, Block 1, Putnam Add'n
Dunn Township on the Peliccui River. AFter consideration, motion was
made by Craig Anderson, seconded by John Everts and carried, Petterson
absent during vote, to deny, no actejuate hardship shown.
KOENE'i - DENIED
Marb'n 0. Lein, Dent, MN, requested permission to build a 24' x 18'
garage appro;dmately 2' from the road ri'^t-of^way on lot 1, Engstrcm
Beach, 3rd Add'n, Edna Township on West McDonald Lake,
sideration, motion was made by Craig Anderson, seconded by Carl John
son and carried, Fettsrson abst, to approve, hardship being able to enjoy
the same rights and privileges as the neighbors enjoy, on a substandard
lot of record in a congested area, and no precedent being set.

Township on East Battle Lake, and eventually subdivide property into
two lots, one with 40,000 square feet and 150 feet of shoreline, the
other 2'i acres. After consideration, motion was made bv Dan Oehler,
seconded by John EXrerts and carried, Petterson & Johnson abstaining,
to grant approval, no hardship necessary, making two lots which are
standard according to lakeshore requirements, subject to providing a
surveyor's drj.ving.

Craig & Brad Coleman, Fargo, ND, request permission to replace existing
screen porch, 10' from Little Pelican Lake, in the NW?j of Section 2,
Dunn Township. After consideration, motion was made b^' Victor Petter-
son, 3c--conti_d by Craig /Anderson and unanimously carried, to grant
approval, substandard lot of record, no size change in existing porch,
requiring that a site permit be obtained.

William Sr Agnes Wallaoc, Bamesvdlle, .^M, request a varianco to build
a 12' X 16' screen porch addition to the side and rear of home, on a
paroel in C.I . 2, Section 9, Pine Lake Township on Big Pine Lake.
After consideration, motion was made by John Everts to deny. The
irotion failed for lack of a second. Motion was then made by Craig
■Anderson to approve, subject to apt lying the "string test", or no closer
to the lake than the neichbors on either side, hardship being a sub
standard let of record. The .motion was seconded by Carl JOhnson and
carried ’jnanimc’usly.
