The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. John Gunkelman, Contractor, represented that applicant at the public hearing. After consideration and discussion, Paul Larson made a motion, second by Joe Maske and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 4’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 75' for the placement of a roof on the existing (same footprint) structure. It was noted that the proposed project is general building maintenance and that the overall footprint of the existing structure will not be changed. Mary Damskov - Approved first requested option. A letter from John and Nancy Lindner in support of the applicant’s request was noted for the record. After consideration and discussion, Steve Schierer made a motion, second by Carl Zick and unanimously carried, to approve a variance for the installation of a septic tank and a drain field at least 10’ from the side lot line and 5’ from the existing detached garage. During the discussion the applicants noted that they would amend their original request to include legally locating the existing 10’ by 10’ structure. (7:58 p.m.) Brigid and Paul Langseth, Lot 6 Sundberg Point Addition, Pickeral Lake in Maine Township, requested the following: to replace existing cabin with a 2-story dwelling 22"^’ by 40’ located on building line at 37’ from the ordinary high water level and 1414’ from an existing road right-of-way. Required setbacks are 100’ from the ordinary high water level and 20’ from the road right-of-way. Note - (There is an existing variance for a 2214’ by 16’ two story addition for this property granted in 1992, to be built 37’ from the ordinary high water level and 1414’ from the road right-of-way. The audience was polled with Steve Fjestad expressing concern with the notification process for the 1992 variance and expressing his wishes as they relate to the new variance application. After consideration and discussion, Paul Larson made a motion, second by Michael Harris and carried with Steve Schierer voting no, to approve the placement of a two story dwelling at least 37’ from the ordinary high water level and at least 14.5’ from the road right-of-way with the condition than no more than 25% of the total lot area can be covered with impervious surfaces. It should be noted that the setbacks as approved do not directly or indirectly grant any other variances from the requirements of the Shoreland Management Ordinance.
