EQUIPMENT STORAGE THAT WE NEED NOR DO WE IWE THE SPACE TO SLEEP ALL OF OUR OWN FtfllLY COMFORTABLY LET ALONE VISITING PARENTS.

IDEALLY WE COULD ADD THIS ON TO THE EXISTING STRUCTURE BUT SOME SPECIAL PROBLEMS MAKE THIS VERY DIFFICULT OR EXPENSIVE. THE HOUSE
LIES AT THE END OF A VERY STEEP HILL TO THE SOUTH. BECAUSE OF THIS HILL THE HOUSE W^iS ORIGIfWLLY BUILT ALMOST ON THE NORTH LOT LINE.
THIS HILL TO THE SOUTH IS PURE SAND /»ID IS VERY DIFFICULT TO WORK WITH. IT TOOK SEVERAL YEARS AFTER THE ORIGIWL CONSTRUCTION TO
ESTABLISH GRASS ON IT. BECAUSE OF THIS HILL , THE LOCATION OF THE DEEP WELL JUST TO THE SOUTH OF THE HOUSE, AND A BEAUTIFUL BIRCH TREE
THAT WOULD HAVE TO BE REMOVED IT WOULD BE EXPENSIVE BOTH MONETARILY AND ESTHETICALLY TO ADD TO THE SOUTH. WE CANNOT ADD TO THE NORTH
BECAUSE THE HOUSE IS VIRTUALLY ON THE LOT LINE RIGHT NOW. TO THE EAST IS A POSSIBILITY BUT IT WOULD REQUIRE REMOVAL TO TWO VERY LARGE
TREES THAT SHADE THE HOUSE, A ROCK RETAINING WALL BUILT AROUND ONE OF THE TREES BY MY FATHER, AND A LARGE PORTION OF THE USABLE FLAT
ASPHAULT PARKING AREA. THREE OTHER POINTS TWT WE WOULD LIKE TO WVE YOU CONSIDER IN STUDYING OUR REQUEST FOR VARIANCE ARE AS FOLLOWS.
fWHY OF THE EXISTING HONES ON FERNCLIFFE BEACH ALREADY IWE GUEST HOUSES THAT WERE BUILT PREVIOUS TO ZONING REGULATIONS. MOST OF THE
H01ES IN THE AREA WERE BUILT IN THE 30'S. OURS IS ONE OF TWO BUILT IN THE AREA IN THE LAST 20 YEARS. WE DO NOT FEEL THAT WE WOULD BE
BUILDING A STRUCTURE TfWT WOULD CIWIGE THE NATURE OF THE AREA IN WHICH WE LIVE. ADDITIOmLY OUR CURRENT HOME IS ON A VERY LARGE LOT OF
APPROXIMATELY 1.6 ACRES. WHICH WOULD ALLOW US TO BUILD THIS STRUCTURE WITHOUT CROWDING A MASS OF BUILDINGS INTO A SMALL AREA. FINALLY,
THE NEIGHBORS DIRECTLY TO THE NORTH OF US IWJE A GUEST HOUSE, WHILE THE LAND TO THE SOUTH OF US IS UNDEVELOPED FOR APPRQXItWTELY 1/2
MILE DOW! THE LAKE SHORE.
In order to properly evaluate the situation, please provide as much supplementary information as possible, such as: maps, plans,
information about surrounding property, etc. APPLICIANT SHALL BE PRESENT AT THE SCHEDULED HEARING.
I understand that I have applied for a variance from the requirements of the Shoreland Management Ordinance of Otter Tail County.
I understand I must contact my township in order to determine whether or not any additional variances and/or permits are required
by the township for my proposed project.

The Otter Tail Coimty Boaild of Adjustment met Thursday, June 4, 1987,
with the following persons in attendance:
George Walter
Marcus Wiechmann
Craig Anderson
Robert Schwartz
John Everts
Tim Greip, Land & Resource Management office
Chairman Walter opened the meeting at 7:00 p.m., and hearing no .
corrections to the minutes of the May 7th meeting, declared same
approved as mailed.
“Ihe following applications for variance were considered:
Michael A. Anderson, Fargo, ND, requested pentission to build an 8' X 10' storage sh^ on the property line close to lake for storage
purposes, on Lot 4, Block 1 South Shores, Vfest Silent Lake, Dora
Township. After consideration, motion was made by Craig Anderson
to grant an 80' variance frcm the lake, with no variance to lot
line, hardship being the uniq\jeness of the terrain. Ihe motion was
seconded hy Marcus Wiechmann and carried upon -the following vote:
All voting in favor
Harold Duenow, Fergus Falls, ]yw, requested permission to place a 12'
X 12' storage structure 124' frctn the West Red River, on Lot 8, 1st
Add'n to Scenic Riverview Acres, Friberg Township. After considera
tion, motion was made by Craig Anderson bo approve, precedence having
already been set, hardship being terrain, with said locaticn being
the least conspicuous spot on the lot. The motion was seconded by
George Walter and carried upon the following vote:

consistent with previous actiai of Board. The motion was seconded by
John Everts and carried’vpon the following vote:
