In order to properly evaluate the situation, please provide as much supplementary information as possible, such as: maps, plans,
information about surrounding property, etc. APPLICANT SHALL BE PRESENT AT THE SCHEDULED HEARING.
I understand that I have applied for a variance from the requirements of the Shoreland Management Ordinance of Otter Tail
County. I understand I must contact my township in order to determine whether or not any additional variance and/or permits
are required by the township for my proposed project.

MOTION AS FOLLOWS:
Motion was made by John Everts, seconded by Bert Olson and unanimously carried, to approve a
variance from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100 and allow the applicant s
structure to be set back even with his neighbor to the west at an approximate setback from the
ordinary high water level of 32' and a variance from the required shore impact zone setback of
50' for the addition of a 32’ by 34' structure with an attached 22' by 24' garage. Hardship
being a substandard lot of record. Applicant will be 4' further back with the new structure
then he presently is with his present dwelling making for an improvement in a substandard
situation. Applicant will meet the side lot line setback requirement of 1 O'.

Curt R. Leach. Glyndon, NN. requested a variance of 3' from the required side lot line setback of
10’, a variance of -41' from the required ordinary high water level setback of 75’ and a variance
of 3,5' from the required shore impact zone setback of 37.5' for the replacement of a 4' by 20'
porch with a 1 O' by 20' screened In porch. The property is described as the west 5' of Lot 11 of
Viken Bay Beach and a tract lying north of rd. between Lots 10 and 11 of Viken Bay Beach,
except west 160'. Pelican Lake in Dunn Township, Larry Swenson represented the applicant at
this hearing. Letters from Erling V. Kvale and Mr, Olson stating objection to the granting of this
variance request were read for the record. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or
against the request. After consideration, motion was made by Craig Anderson, seconded by Cecil
Femling and carried with John.Everts and George Walter voting no. to approve a water oriented
accessory structure by granting a 3' variance from the required side lot line setback of 10', and
a 4 r variance from the required ordinary high water level setback of 75', and a 3,5' variance
from the required shore impact zone setback of 37.5' and to vary the required side lot line
setback of 40' for water oriented accessory structures for the replacement of a 4' by 20' porch
with a 1 O' by 20' screened in porch. The porch will not obstruct vision due to Its attachment to
the existing cabin. Hardship being a substandard lot of record. This lot has only 48' of lake
frontage and a depth of 120'.

Leo and Patricia Christiansen - Approved
Leo and Patricia Christiansen, St. Paul, MN, requested a variance to extend an existing deck on
the front of the cottage and provide a screened area on the same space. The deck would be 27 to
34' from the ordinary high water level, requesting a variance of 41 to 48' from the required
setback of 75' and a variance of 3.5 to 10.5' from the required shore impact zone setback of
37,5', The property Is described as Lot 12, except tract. Block 4 of Lida Shores, Lake Lida In
Lida Township, The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After
consideration, motion was made by Craig Anderson, seconded by Cecil Femling and unanimously
carried to approve the variance as requested In the application with the provision that this will
be the water oriented accessory structure on this lot and that the existing storage building
located in the right hand lake corner be placed behind the building line. Hardship being a
substandard lot of record.

East Battle Lake in Girard Township. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or
against the request. After consideration, motion was made by John Everts, seconded by Bert
Olson and unanimously carried, to approve a variance from the required ordinary high water
level setback of 100’ and allow the applicant's structure to be set back even with his neighbor to
the west at an approximate setback from the ordinary high water level of 32' and a variance
from the required shore impact zone setback of 50' for the addition of a 32' by 34' structure
with an attached 22' by 24' garage. Hardship being a substandard lot of record. Applicant will
