Roger M Heidorn - Approved an ordinary high water level variance with a condition. (6:39 p.m.)
After discussion and consideration, Steve Schierer made a motion, seconded by Joe Maske and unanimously carried,
to approve a variance of 50’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 200’ for a building site located 150’
from the ordinary high water level with the condition that the existing cabin identified on the applicant drawing must be
removed before a site pernriit can be issued for the proposed development. The Board noted that the variance as
approved does not grant directly or indirectly any other variances. Hardship is water on three sides of the applicant’s
property and the terraito.^

OF THE
OTTER TAIL COUNTY BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
Thursday, June 10, 2004
The Otter Tail County Board of Adjustment met Thursday, June 10, 2004, with the following persons in
attendance:
Michael Conlon

Called to Order - Randall Mann, Chair, called the meeting of the Board of Adjustment to order at
6:30 p.m.
Minutes Approved -
The membership of the Board of Adjustment approved the minutes of the June 3, 2004 meeting as mailed.
The Board of Adjustment considered the following applications for variance:
Kevin and Rhonda Olson - Approved the variance as requested. (6:30 p.m.)
Kevin and Rhonda Olson, part of Government Lot 1, Section 31 of Edna Township by Pickerel Lake,
requested a variance of 40' from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100’ for the placement of
new a dwelling 60' from the ordinary high water level. Mr. and Mrs. Duane Olson appeared along with the
applicants at the public hearing. Chairman Mann polled the audience with no one speaking for or against
the variance as requested. After discussion and consideration, Michael Conlon made a motion, seconded
by Steve Schierer and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 40’ from the required ordinary high
water level setback of 100’ for the placement of new a dwelling 60’ from the ordinary high water level. The
Board noted that the proposed location is an improvement over the location of the prior dwelling. The
Board also noted that the proposed structure would not be within the shore impact zone.
Roger M Heidorn - Approved an ordinary high water level variance with a condition. (6:39 p.m.)
Roger M Heidorn, Government Lot 8, Section 14 of Dead Lake Township by Lone Pine Lake, requested a
variance to build a new log home (approximately 1400 square feet) inside the normal setback limits for a
natural environmental lake. This property is a peninsula and restricts areas for building outside the normal
200’ setback limit. A variance for a sewer system would also need to be addressed. I am also requesting
a variance to upgrade an existing building on this property by replacing siding and windows. Dennis
Happel, Attorney, appeared along with the applicant. Chairman Mann polled the audience with no one
speaking for or against the variance as requested. After discussion and consideration, Steve Schierer
made a motion, seconded by Joe Maske and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 50’ from the
required ordinary high water level setback of 200’ for a building site located 150’ from the ordinary high
water level with the condition that the existing cabin identified on the applicant drawing must be removed
before a site permit can be issued for the proposed development. The Board noted that the variance as
approved does not grant directly or indirectly any other variances. Hardship is water on three sides of the
applicant’s property and the terrain.
