CHERYL JOHNSON - TABLED
Cheryl Johnson, Fargo, ND, requested an 8’ variance from the required 1 O' side lot line setback,
so that a house that was constructed in 1982 can remain in its present location. Property is
described as North 15'of Lot 31 and Lots 32 and 33, Block 3, Crystal Hills, Lake Crystal in
Lida Township, In addition to Cheryl Johnson appearing on her own behalf she was represented
by Mr. Dennis Sherman, Attorney, and Bob and Art Hovde Realtors, Attorney Dennis Sherman
presented the facts of the variance request and presented a letter for the record from Mr, Peter
Fendt of Fargo, ND the original owner of the house in question. Speaking against the request was
Mr. and Mrs, Richard Scholberg, The Scholberg's had a prepared statement that they read for
the record and made additional comments, as well as, making themselves available to answer
questions of the board. Attorney Dennis Sherman responded to the Scholberg statements. After
much discussion and consideration, motion was made by Dan Oehler, seconded by Victor
Petterson and unanimously carried, to table action until the June meeting to allow all board
members an opportunity to view the Johnson and Scholberg property.
PAUL E. AND GERI A. THIEME - APPROVED

Government Lot 1, Section 19 of Dane Prairie Township on Chautauqua Lake. After
consideration, motion was made by Victor Petterson, seconded by Dan Oehler and unanimously
carried, to approve the request for a 160' setback from the ordinary high water mark. A
variance of 40' from the required 200' setback. Hardship being the topography and other
natural features of the building site. This location lessens the impact to the area.
ARTHUR JOHNSON - APPROVED
Arthur Johnson, Battle Lake. MN. previously tabled from the December 1990 meeting,
requested permission to construct an 18' by 24' addition to the present cottage 1' to 6' from the
side lot line on Lot 1 , Block 2, Blarney Beach, Otter Tail Lake in Everts Township. Speaking for
the request was Mr Norman Davis. Speaking against the request was Ms. Barb Klaman, After
consideration, motion was made by Victor Petterson, seconded by Cecil Femling and carried with
John Everts abstaining, to grant a 6' variance from the side property lot line Applicant will be
allowed to build 4' from the lot line. Hardship being substandard lot of record and the
topography.
Bill Kalar, Land and Resource Management Director discussed with the board a preliminar/
variance request of Jerome Kaston and also discussed with the board proposed ordinance changes
With no further business. Chairman Walter declared the meeting adjourned at 9:32 p.m.
