This property is located directly across from the proposed Karinall Lodging site at 51097 E Wymer Lake Road. Our close proximity to the proposed lodging facility and its plan for 24 occupants raises several questions and concerns. The most pressing of our concerns is the large number of occupants proposed and the potential safety issuers that would ensue. The primary safety concern Is that of safety for pedestrians on the road as well as the vehicles on the road. Wymer Lake Road has many daily walkers and runners several of which are children. The roadway is not a wide one and lodgers may not be cognizant of all the foot and bike traffic on the road. We have 8 young grandchildren that visit intermittently during the summer and use the road for walking and biking. The egress from 51097 East Wymer Lake Road is a dangerous one. It is a steep incline which therefore requires accelerating on entering the road on a blind approach- a concern for all types of traffic on the road. Twenty four guests would require a large number of vehicles as well as the potential of watercraft. We believe parking for such a large number of guests and the friends who may visit them is inadequate. Using the road for overflow parking creates a safety hazard and the potential for an accident. An additional safety concern is that of a potential fire from bonfires which are not closely monitored. This is a heavily wooded area with multiple cabins in close proximity all of which would be at risk. We believe the quality of life on Wymer Lake Road would be significantly negatively impacted. Wymer lake is a small lake with cabins in close proximity and residents are respectful of their neighbors and the impact of excessive noise. We chose Wymer Lake specifically because of the peace and quiet and feel the noise caused by parties of 24 people and possibly pets would be excessive and 05/06/2019 13:57 52^6259265 THE UPS STORE 1997 PAGE 03/03 disruptive. The presence of increased noise and traffic could adversely affect property values as well. Considering all the potential impacts of such a large number of lodgers we propose that there should be a site visit by the Otter Tail Planning Commission to evaluate parking and safety issues as well as a review of the current zoning laws for Wymer Lake. Since the services of business groups is being planned for Karinall, is Wymer Lake zoned for such a commercial/ business venture? We would recommend a maximum of 10 guests and a maximum of 5 cars.
