Prior to purchasing the property I had the Shoreland Management representative from Perham come out and discussed with him the possibility of enclosing the existing 10' X 22' Deck. He indicated that Shoreland Management would not approve a site or building permit until the property had a certified septic system. He indicated that if permission was re­ ceived from the County to encroach on the road right of way that there would be room for a certified septic system. I therefore purchased the property and have applied for a permit to put in a certified septic system. The cottage's living room is tiny and we would like to make it larger by enclosing the 10 redwood deck that is already in place. The cottage was built at least 27 years ago and because present setback requirements were not in effect the redwood deck is now 62' from the water level. Since the setback is less than 100 i understand that I need to have a variance before I can obtain a site or building permit. 1 therefore request that a variance be granted which would allow me to enclose the already existing redwood deck which is 10' by 22' or 220 square feet. Permission has been granted by Hobart Township to put the drain field for the septic system on the road right of way. Because of weather conditions construction would not take place in 1986.
