Valerie A Smischny - The variance as requested was denied and a modification of the variance was
approved. (8:34 p.m.)
Valerie A. Smischny, Lot 1 Sunrise View Beach 2"'' Addition, Lake Lida in Lida Township, requested a
variance to have Lot 1 Sunrise View Beach Second Addition declared a buildable residential lot. The
audience was polled with Terry L. Sjostrom and Mick McNabb, Lida Township Officers, and with Jim and
Cecile Bell expressing concerns with the variance as requested. A letter from Joyce Valley, Lida Township
Clerk, on behalf of the Lida Township Board of Supervisors in opposition to the variance as requested was
noted for the record. After consideration and discussion, Cecil Femling made a motion, second by Steve
Schierer and unanimously carried, to deny the variance as requested as no adequate hardship unique to
the property had been shown that would not allow for the granting of the variance as requested and noting
that the applicant does have a reasonable use of her property. After additional discussion and
consideration, Robert Schwartz made a motion, second by Steve Schierer and unanimously carried, to
declare Lot 1 Sunrise View Beach Second Addition, a buildable lot for a non-dwelling purpose/structure.
The Board noted that the variance as approved will provide the applicant with a reasonable use of this
substandard back lot and is consistent with prior Board of Adjustment decisions.
Mary Kemper-Denied. (8:50 p.m.)
Mary Kemper, Lot 23 Cleanvater Beach First Addition, Lake Six in Hobart Township, requested a variance
of 4’ from the required side lot line setback of 10’ for the location of a replacement dwelling 6’ from the
property line. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. A
letter from Joyce and Neil Miller in support of the variance as requested was read for the record. After
consideration and discussion, Paul Larson made a motion, second by Cecil Femling and unanimously
carried, to deny the variance as requested as no adequate hardship unique to the property had been
shown that would allow for the granting of the variance as requested and the applicant does have adequate
room to place the proposed development in a location which complies with the side lot line setback
requirement.
Michael L. and Mary A. Wollan - Approved/denied the variance as requested with a condition.
(8:55 p.m.)
Michael L. and Mary A. Wollan, part of Government Lot 4, Section 20 of Dane Prairie Township by Swam
Lake, requested a variance of 10’ from the required septic system setback of 10’ for the location of an 8’ by
10’ storage shed and an 8’ by 12’ storage shed 0’ from the septic tank and 0’ from the drain field and
variances of 54’, 62’ and 72’ for the placement of a 6’ by 8’ bathroom addition 46’ from the ordinary high
water level, for the placement of a 10’ by 18’ shed 38’ from the ordinary high water level and for the
placement of 10’ by 10’ addition to the 10’ by 18’ shed 28’ from the ordinary high water level. The audience
was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. After consideration and
discussion, Steve Schierer made a motion, second by Michael Harris and unanimously carried, to approve
the variances as requested for the 6’ by 8’ bathroom addition and for the 10’ by 18’ shed with the condition
that the 10’ by 18’ shed cannot be used for sleeping quarters and to deny the variances as requested for
the 8’ by 10’ shed, the 8’ by 12’ shed and for the 10’ by 10’ addition to the 10’ by 18’ shed. The variances
as approved provide the applicants with a reasonable use of their property.
