The new drainfield, while less than 100 feet away, would be 29-30 feet
away from present shallow well than it is at present. Septic tank of our ^

if we moved our well to within 1 foot of the boundary line. But even this
would require sinking of a new well OUTSIDE of our home. We now have an insulated
box which we can put over our well in the crawl space under the house, and with
a lit lightbulb inside the box have no problem with the pump freesing upu
The new septic system will cost about $1,500 and we simply cannot xmdertake
that project if we must also dig a new well (down near the lake to get 100 feet
from the neighbor's septic tank), run a deep trench below the frost line, and
also build a small shelter over that new pump to protect it from freesing.
Our present pump and drain field were acceptable, and considered safe when we
built in 1955. We are happy that the county is making every effort to bring the sewage systems around lakes'^absolutely safe£-i|,. In our case, we hope that the
viriance permit can be granted, since our lot layout makes 100^ compliance

Gentlemen,
Thank you for the notice concerning the hearing on ny
vaidance petition which was sent by the county auditor.
I trust that it is not neccesary for my to be personally
present at the hearing, since according to plans of mr\y months*
standing I must be out-of-state on the date of the hearing.
I imagine that there will be no local opposition to the
variance permit. At least neighbors who have received the
same notice have indicated that they have none.
I will leave early June 1st, so please contact me by phone
(3^2-2042) if there is something I should do in lieu of ny
attendance at the hearing.
