Excavation of the peat within the area westerly of the channel southerly of the road right-of-way,
northerly of the Type 7 Wetland, and southeasterly of the Grothe tract for the purpose of stockpiling
peat to use as topsoil borrow for the Hobart Township Scalp Trail Road Improvement Project. The
ex:sting topsoil within the project is very thin and non-existent in some areas, in order to have
adequate topsoil to meet the MPCA requirements for turf establishment, topsoil borrow will be
required and the method proposed is the most cost effective way to procure the topsoil. Earthwork
will involve approximately 5,000 Cu.Yds. over approximately an acre of area. No backfilling is
proposed. The project will proceed this winter to allow the peat to dry out before it can be used. „

Topographical Alteration of the northwesterly 30’, adjacent to the easterly right-of-way boundary of
Scalp Trail, for the purpose of constructing a back slope for the Hobart Township Scalp Trail Road
Improvement Project between Stations 10+50 and 15+00. Earthwork will involve approximately 2,500
Cu.Yds. over 9,200 Sq. Ft. of area. Erosion control practices will be installed with the Hobart
Township Road Improvement Project prior to excavation work with permanent turf & mulch measures
to be installed within 7 days of completion. See attached site plan.
