Portmann and Lindquist to select a Board of Directors for the Pelican. Group of Lakes
Improvement District.

Waste Reduction Week Summary
!Marie Tysdal, Public Information Officer, provided a Waste Reduction Week Summary
(September 27 - October 2) . She indicated school activities which had. taken place at
the Fergus Falls Middle and elementary schools as well as discussions at the Pelican
Rapids High School Wellness Class. Media coverage was also reported. Tysdal indicated
about forty-five County employees toured the recycling center.

recommended by the Planning Commission.
Election Judge Certification
Motion by Portmann, seconded Stone and unanimously carried to certify the election
judges for the November 2nd election as presented by the Auditor, and further, to
certify the remaining precinct judges based on review by the Auditor.
County Drainage Ditch #21
After hearing a report by the Highway Engineer regarding attempts to determine the
original elevation of County Drainage Ditch #21, a motion was offered by Portmann,

Bill Poulsen, Heart Beach Resort. Dead Lake (56-383), Sections
8 & 17, Dead Lake Township discussed with the Commission the
possibility of the State buying some of the property for a
Public Access and him being able to operate his resort with the
same number or with 5 less campers. No formal action was
taken.

A motion by Estes, second by Petterson to table the Conditional
Use Application of Julie Thorson, West McDonald Lake (56-386),
RD, Lot 3 Block 1, Engstrom Beach 5th Addition, Section 18,
Edna Township to the November 3, 1993 meeting at 8:00 P.M., the
Applicant is to provide a Civil Engineer's drawing showing how
the drainage problem will be rectified.

THE CONDITIONAL USE REQUESTED IS:
There is an old sand/gravel pit on the property and it is eroding badly.
I would like to move approximately 800 cubic yards of sand/gravel from
the top of the pit to level it off.
The access road to the pit also has to be rebuilt, the gravel for this
is included in the estimated 800 cubic yards removed from the top of
the pit. I would like to do this yet this fall to take advantage of the
low interest rate.
