Motion
Philip Douglas - Approved
Motion was made by Mark Steuart, seconded by Rod Boyer and unanimously carried, with Randall Mann voting no, to
approve a variance of 2’ from the 18’ maximum allowable height of a non-dwelling structure for a utility shed having a
roof approximately 19.5’ tall at the center. It was noted that the proposed structure is approximately 250 to 300’ from
the lake and noting that the terrain features of the applicant’s property will place the proposed structure in a location
that will not restrict view from adjacent properties nor will it be visible from the lake.

Michael Scherschligt - Approved
Michael Scherschligt, Robbinsdale, MN, requested a variance to “construct residence addition behind
string test, but within shore impact zone, in order to connect addition to existing structure on adjoining
substandard lot.” Proposed addition would be approximately 44’ from the ordinary high water level.
Required ordinary high water level setback is 100’. The property is described as part of Government
Lot 8, (Called Lots H and I, Swanton’s Addition), Big McDonald Lake in Edna Township. The audience
was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by
Cecil Femling, seconded by David Holmgren and unanimously carried to allow the proposed addition
outside of the shore impact zone with the condition that the storage shed located on the east side of the
applicant’s property must be placed behind the building line and in an area that complies with all other
requirement of the ordinance.
Philip Douglas - Approved
Philip Douglas, Erhard, MN, requested a variance of 2’ from the 18’ maximum allowable height of a
non-dwelling structure for a utility shed having a roof approximately 19.5’ tall at the center and
approximately 12’ tall at the sides. The property is described as part of Government Lot 7 and the
North Half of the Southwest Quarter of the Southwest Quarter, Section 2 of Friberg Township by an
unnamed lake. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. After
consideration, motion was made by Mark Steuart, seconded by Rod Boyer and unanimously carried,
with Randall Mann voting no, to approve a variance of 2’ from the 18’ maximum allowable height of a
non-dwelling structure for a utility shed having a roof approximately 19.5’ tall at the center. It was noted
that the proposed structure is approximately 250 to 300’ from the lake and noting that the terrain
features of the applicant’s property will place the proposed structure in a location that will not restrict
view from adjacent properties nor will it be visible from the lake.
Sean Gabor - Approved
Sean Gabor, ET AL, Burnsville, MN, requested a variance of 74’ from the required ordinary high water
level setback of 100’ for a 22’ by 24’ second story addition 26’ from the ordinary high water level and a
variance of 50’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100’ for a 7’ by 1T addition 50’
from the ordinary high water level. The property is described as part of Lot 5, Stuart Lake Park, Stuart
Lake in Girard Township. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the applicant’s
request. After consideration, motion was made by Cecil Femling, seconded by Randall Mann and
unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 74’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of
100’ for a 22’ by 24’ second story addition 26’ from the ordinary high water level and a variance of 50’
from the required ordinary high water level setback of 100’ for a 7’ by 1T addition 50’ from the ordinary
high water level noting that the proposed additions will be no closer to the ordinary high water level than
the existing structure. Hardship is a substandard lot of record and the granting of the variance will allow
the applicant the ability to enjoy the same rights and privileges as others in the immediate area.
