Motion
Gerard and Maureen Knudsen - Approved the variance as requested. (7:40 p.m.)
After consideration and discussion, Steve Schierer made a motion, second by Joe Maske and unanimously carried, to
approve the variance as requested in .the application dated April 28, 2012 and as depicted on the drawing submitted with
the application. It was noted that the existing cabin and deck will be removed and that the proposed development will be
further away from the ordinary high water level than the location of the existing cabin. Hardship/practical difficulty is a
substandard lot of record.-f.

RE: Gerard and Maureen Knudsen Variance Request - East Lost Lake
Dear Sirs,
Enclosed is my request for a variance to locate a new cabin at 89’ back from the OHWL
mark. I respectfully ask you to consider the following factors for this variance request:
I will be removing the existing cabin and deck. The new cabin will be further
back than the footprint of the existing cabin. It will be approximately 89’
back on the east side and 96’ back on the west side of the cabin from the
OHWL. The new cabin would be 32’ deep so reducing the cabin depth is not
a desirable option.
The new cabin will not be blocking the view for either adjacent neighbor now
or into the future.
The adjacent cabin to the east is 60’ back from the OHWL and the adjacent
cabin to the west is 108’ back from the OHWL. All lake cabins to the east of
my proposed cabin are much closer to the shoreline with those 7 cabins
ranging from 10’ to 60’ back from the OHWL.
Placing my cabin back 100’ from the OHWL mark would create a hardship as
it would place the new cabin in a position where it would block access to my
existing Foltz storage building and driveway.
The OHWL setback is the only variance I would be requesting. All other
setbacks and impervious surface ratio are well within tolerance. I will also be
removing and replacing my existing septic and drain field with a new septic
and drain field which will comply with all requirements.

Thank you for your consideration.
