The proposed development is reasonable, will not increase impervious surface coverage and will not obstruct the view from the adjacent properties. The variance as approved does allow the applicants to tie the roof of the new development into the existing roof. Called to Order - Steve Schierer, Chair called the meeting of the Board of Adjustment to order at 6:30 p.m. Minutes Approved - The Board of Adjustment approved the minutes of September 12, 2013 meeting as mailed. The Board of Adjustment considered the following applications for variance: Robert and Janet Asmus - Variance application approved as requested. (6:32 p.m.) Robert and Janet Asmus, part of Government Lot 8, Section 25 of Sverdrup Township by South Turtle Lake, requested the following: Enclosing the existing porch and the 6’ by 17’ addition will be 6 ‘ from the property line. The required setback is 10’. Adam Asmus represented the applicants at the public hearing. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. After discussion and consideration, Thomas Lee made a motion, second by Michael Harris and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 4’ from the required side lot line setback of 10’ for the enclosure of an existing porch and for a 6’ by 17’ addition 6’ from the property line. The proposed development is reasonable, will not increase impervious surface coverage and will not obstruct the view from the adjacent properties. The variance as approved does allow the applicants to tie the roof of the new development into the existing roof. Hardship/practical difficulty is the placement of the existing dwelling and the unique features of the applicants’ property. erLarry and Karen Trosdahl - Variance application was approved-denied with a modification (6:38 p.mm Larry and Karen Trosdahl, Lots 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9, Fish Lake Beach, Fish Lake in Aurdal Township, requested the following: As shown on the site plan drawing on file in the County Auditor's office, we wish to add a deck onto the South side of the existing dwelling, which was built pre-ordinance in 1935. The new deck shall be no closer to the ordinary high water level than the existing dwelling’s south stair or approximately 35' 8”, therefor, requiring a 164’ 4” variance from the ordinary high water setback of 200’. Also we wish to build a 38’ by 40’ garage. Location as shown on the drawing on file in the County Auditor’s office. The garage will sit 102’ from the ordinary high water level, therefor, requiring a 98’ variance from the ordinary high water setback of 200’. Lastly, we would like to add a 38’ by 16’ concrete slab, location as sown on the drawing on file in the County Auditor’s office to set a 35’ by 8’ camper (RCU) without water or sewer connections. The RCU will sit no closer than 164’ from the ordinary high water level, therefor requiring a 36’ variance from the ordinary high water setback of 200’. We respectfully request a site permit for this RCU. We own approximately 360’ of shoreline, covering 6 lots, the plot contains a wetland and the location of the septic system leaves little choice on the placements of these requests. Tim Greenwood appeared with Karen at the public hearing. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. After discussion and consideration, Paul Larson made a motion, second by Thomas Lee and unanimously carried, to approve the proposed deck addition extending no closer to the ordinary high water level than 4’ in front of the existing sunroom portion of the dwelling, to approve a 98’ variance from the ordinary high water level setback of 200’ for the placement of a 38’ by 40’ garage 102’ from the ordinary high water level and to deny the variance as requested for the RCU. The variance for the RCU was denied because it would establish a precedence that the members of the Board are not interested in establishing. SCALE DRAWING FORM! i!"R 6^7 QQQ 3^2 lyoo !
