The problem is twofold: 1. Prior to proceeding with construction of a boathouse in a hole dug for that purpose in the 1950's, we failed to recognize the present zoning rules and regulations v^ch apply. (See Ejchibit "A" for background information). 2. A hardship exists in that we have inadequate space to comply with the dimensions required in the zoning rules and regulations. (Please see Exhibit "B" for details). This property has been in the family for about 55 years.In this time we have demonstrated concern and care for it by main taining a "close to natural state". It was used primarily for a hunting cabin 50 years ago when the water level was 5 to 10 feet lower than present lake level. As the water level continued to rise, many trees were drowned and my father-in-law spent many hours each year cleaning the shores of debris.An avid hunter, he tried to enhance the natural state by planting sago (a plant ducks feed on) and he put up a number of wood duck houses with considerable success. EXHIBIT "B" PURPOSE OF EXHIBIT — to demonstrate that a hardship exists because of the inadequate space to meet the set-back dimensions on this unique property. The property is of insufficient size to allow full compliance (See map on exhibit C-2)with the zoning requirements for dimensions. A set-back of 200 feet from any shore line would locate it within 200 feet of the opposite shoreline.This property is unique in that it is nearly an island of land in the lake. Construction of a boathouse at this location creates a hard ship for relocation as the huge open hole was dug 25 years ago for It has been a safety hazard for children andthe present purpose. has been fenced to keep them from falling in it. The proposed boathouse location is 50 feet distant from the present lakeshore and 4 feet in elevation above the present lake level. The property is very remote and is reached only by a deadend private road.
