This request for variance is submitted pursuant to
Shoreline Management Ordinance, Otter Tail County, Minn,
(as revised April 15,1985).
The request for variance is submitted prior to filing
a Quit Claim Deed with respect to a triangular area of
122.4 square feet. This area is clearly identified on the
survey accompanying this request. The area in question is
used partially for driveway and for flower bed.
Mr.and Mrs Reuben Olson own the adjacent lot(Lot 1,
Walls Lost Lake Beachjl Mr.Olson granted Ms.Charlene
Nelson(now Mrs Frederick Hage) permission to use the area
in question for ease of access to her garage.
Ms.Nelson built the "A" frame house in 1983. We
purchased the property in September 1986(closed Dec.86).
We were unaware that a portion of the driveway and
a flov/er bed encroached on the Olson property until Mr.
Olson informed us of this in October 1990. As we are here
from May to mid October each year,no action was taken in
1990.
Based on information from Mr.Olson, a survey was a
necessity. This was accomplished in May 1991 by Kermit T
Bjorgum and Assoc.,Inc, James W.Fowlds, Registered Land
Surveyor.

BERNARD MACZKOWICZ JR. - WITHDRAWN PRIOR TO MEETING
Bernard Maczkowicz Jr., Fargo. ND, request a variance of 7' from the required ! O' side lot line
setback on property described as Amended Plat of Sub, Division of Res, A, B, C, D, of
Haggstrom's Beach Lot 5. Block 4 and Vacated Adj. Road; and Lot 35 and Vacated Adj. Road,
Haggstrom Beach 3rd Addition, Pickeral Lake in Maine Township. No action taken as the
applicant had withdrawn his request prior to the date of the meeting.
ROBERT ROBLEY - APPROVED
Robert Robley, Vergas, MN, requested permission to construct a 30' by 56' machine shed 20'
from the road right-of-way on County Road Number 31. The property is described as the W1 /2
5W1 /4 except S 2 rods and SE1 /4 5W1 /4 of Section 23 in Dunn Township. The audience was
polled with no one speaking for or against this request. After consideration, motion was made by
Victor Petterson, seconded by Cecil Femling and unanimously carried, to approved the
construction of a 30' by 56' machine shed 20' from the road right-of-way (70' from the center
of the road). Hardship being the terrain and the topography.
DELWOOD R. BERNDT - DENIED
Delwood R. Berndt, Breckenridge, MN, requested permission to have two dwellings on Lot 4.
Ironwood Beach, Pickeral Lake in Maine Township. The audience was polled with Frank Veden
speaking against the applicant's request. Letters received from George Frederickson and Noell
and Merrll Reinhlller opposing the applicant's request were read for the record. After
consideration, motion was made by John Everts, seconded by Craig Anderson and unanimously
carried, to deny the variance request as no adequate hardship had been shown.
BEDFORD H. AND MARCIA B. BERREY - WITHDRAWN PRIOR TO MEETING
Bedford H. and Marcia B. Berrey, Underwood, MN, requesting approval to split off a triangular
piece of Lot 1 of Vv'all Lost Lake Beach, This triangular piece would be added to the adjacent
property. The triangular piece would be 9,5' on the north, 25,81' on the west and 27' on the
east. The property is described as part of Government Lot 2, Section 1 of Sverdrup Township on
East Lost Lake. No action taken as the applicant had withdrawn his request prior to the date of
the meeting.
DONALD PETERSON - WITHDRAWN PRIOR TO MEETING
Donald Peterson, Edina, MN, request permission to floor the rafters in a 28' by 26' garage with
a height of 18'. The garage would contain a second story for storage with headroom above the
rafters of approximately 6' to 7'. The property is described as the SWly 50' of lot 2 and Lot 3,
Martee Beach, Blanche Lake in Everts Township, No action taken as the applicant had
withdrawn his request prior to the date of the meeting.

As noted above a copy of the survey is of
this application;also attached is a photocoy of that part
of the survey depicting our lot with the location of the
dwelling showing setback and relevant measurements.
As part of the application are photographs of
the triangular area in guestion to identify the driveway,
flower bed and garage.
Mr. Olson and I have discussed this matter. He was
advised that I intended to file an application for variance.
This to be followed by a Quit Claim Deed on terms mutually
agreeable.
Mr and Mrs Olson reside at 221 So.3rd Street, Wahpeton.
N.D.,58075. AC701-642-3648. Their fire sign number on East
Lost Lake is B-15.
It is to be noted that the area in question cannot be
staked as required by the governing ordinance because of the
driveway. However, there is a property line stake at the
edge of the driveway as well as a survey monument visible on
the surface of the driveway. Our fire sign is B-10.
