Brian E Schmidt - Variance application approved as modified. (6:58 p.m.)
Brian E Schmidt Tst Et Al, part of Government Lot 5 and part of the Southwest Quarter of the Northwest Quarter,
Section 32 of Everts Township by Elbow Lake requested a variance of 75’ from the required ordinary high water level
setback of 200’ for the placement of a dwelling 125’ from the ordinary high water level. Appearing with the applicant at
the public hearing were Rick Leitch and Bruce Lindblom. The audience was polled with Jim Houselog and Darrel
Gedde speaking. Mr. Houselog was interested in knowing how this specific request might affect properties closer to
his own property. It was noted that each property and each application is unique and given individual consideration.
Mr. Gedde spoke in opposition to the variance as requested because he felt it would negatively impact his use of his
property for hunting. After consideration and discussion, Michael Harris made a motion, second by Rod Boyer and
unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 45’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 200’ for the
placement of a dwelling 155’ from the ordinary high water level. The practical difficulties/hardships are terrain and
drainage issues. The granting of the variance as approved will provide the applicant with a reasonable use of his
property. It should also be noted that the variance as approved does not directly or indirectly grant any other
variances for the proposed development.
Lunde Trust - Variance application approved as requested. (7:10 p.m.)
Lunde Trust, part of Government Lot 2, Section 31 of Fergus Falls Township requested the following: We are
requesting to split the property as shown as Parcels A and B. Historically, document number 651151, was a separate
parcel. It was included in quit claim deed number 1023952 (Lunde Trust), by mistake, which made it ail into one
parcel. We are requesting to split the property to keep the 3.20 acre parcel separate. Bruce Fuhrman represented
the applicant at the public hearing. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as
requested. After consideration and discussion, Paul Larson made a motion, second by Michael Harris and
unanimously carried, to approve the variance as requested in the application dated April 17, 2013 and as depicted on
the registered surveyor’s drawing dated March 27*'^, 2013.
Joshua and Heather Jorde - Approved the variance application as requested. (7:13 p.m.)
Joshua and Heather Jorde, Lot 8 Block 1 Leaf Lake Pleasure Grounds, West Leaf Lake in Leaf Lake Township,
requested the following: Raising 18’by 20’ center of existing structure to accommodate upper story and a half
bedroom by 6' rise, and to repair existing damage from July 2012. Existing dwelling is only 35’ from the ordinary high
water level, but behind the building line. Appearing at the public hearing to represent the application were Heather
Jorde and Greg Krusemark. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested.
After consideration and discussion, Ward Uggerud made a motion, second by Thomas Lee and unanimously carried,
to approve the variance as requested in the application dated April 16, 2013 and as depicted on the drawing
submitted with the variance application. It was noted that there will be no change to the existing footprint and that the
proposed development will not restrict or obstruct the view from the adjacent properties. The variance as approved
does not directly or indirectly grant any other variances for the proposed development.
DuWayne K. and Mary Jo Roberts - Approved the variance application with conditions (7:18 p.m.)
DuWayne K. and Mary Jo Roberts, part of Government Lots 1 and 2, Section 21 of Pine Lake Township by Big Pine
Lake, requested a variance of 1T from the required ordinary high water level setback of 75’ and a variance of 4’ from
the required lot line setback of 10’ for the construction of an addition on an existing basement 64’ from the ordinary
high water level and 6’ from the west property line. April 18, 2013 meeting - The audience was polled with on one
speaking for or against the variance as requested. After discussion and consideration, Rick Wilson made a motion,
second by Michael Harris and unanimously carried, to table with the applicants’ verbal permission, this variance
hearing until the May 9, 2013 meeting, which will provide the Board of Adjustment members with an adequate
opportunity to view the applicants’ property. It was noted that access to this property was restricted because of
significant snow cover and the road had not been opened. May 9, 2013 meeting - Tom Dresser represented the
applicants at the public hearing. After consideration and discussion, Paul Larson made a motion, second by Michael
Harris and unanimously carried, to approved the variances as requested for the proposed addition to the existing 26’
by 30’ cabin with the condition that the proposed 26’ by 26’ garage must be placed at least 10’ from the lot line and
with the condition that the variances as approved do not directly or indirectly grant any variances for the existing deck
or any future deck.
