(8:04 p.m.) Kim and Christine Parsons, Lots 1 and 2 North Shore and part of Government Lot 3, Section 35 of Star Lake Township by Dead Lake, requested the following: Request variance to build a structure with less than ordinary high water level setback because lot existed on deed before October 15*^, 1971; a structure exists on one immediately adjoining lot (other side has no structures) which does not meet ordinary high water level setbacks. Proposal would include sealing existing well and having a new well drilled. Structure will be a year round home with attached garage. Existing house is approximately 44’ from the ordinary high water level. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. After consideration and discussion, Steve Schierer made a motion, second by Michael Harris and unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 125’ from the required ordinary high water level setback of 200’ for the placement of the proposed development 75’ from the ordinary high water level, at least 20’ from the road right-of-way and at least 10’ from the lot lines with the condition that no more than 25% of the eligible lot area can be covered with impervious surfaces. It was noted that the variance as approved will provide the applicants with a reasonable use of their property. and Sandra Johnson - Approved the variance as modified. (8:12 p.m.) Mark and Sandra Johnson, Lot 22 Oakwood Beach Addition, Silver Lake in Everts Township, requested the following; We are requesting a variance of 28’ from the string line setback. This would allow us to construct an addition to the end of our existing cabin and a garage behind this addition. Also, a variance of 7’ from the string line setback to construct an addition to the backside of our existing cabin opposite end. Existing dwelling is approximately 5T from lake. Proposed additions will not be closer. Rick Bladow, Contractor, represented the applicants at the public hearing. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. After consideration and discussion, Michael Harris made a motion, second by Carl Zick and unanimously carried, to approve placement of the proposed development no closer to the ordinary high water level than what would be permitted by the application of building/site line (a line determined from the front corner of the main dwellings on the adjacent properties). The Board noted that the applicants can obtained a reasonable use of their property at the approved setback. Patricia and Steven Pranke - Approved the variance as requested with a condition. (8:20 p.m.) Patricia and Steven Pranke, Lot 8 and part of Lot 9, Maplehurst, Lake Lida in Lida Township, requested the following: a variance request to split Parcel A (as shown on the survey drawing filed in the County Auditor’s office) and convey it to James F. Thompson, to be attached to Lot 10. This would decrease Lots 8 and 9 by 1,324 square feet and increase Lot 10 by 1,324 square feet. This would be done to fulfill purchase agreement condition of May 18, 2004. October 4, 2007 Meeting - Cindy Nelson represented the applicants at the public hearing. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. After consideration and discussion, Randall Mann made a motion to approve the variance as requested. It was noted that the variance as requested would establish two parcels more equal in size, would allow room for a future septic system site and does not negatively impact either parcel. The hardship that was noted was substandard lots of record. After additional discussion and consideration the motion to approve was withdrawn and Steve Schierer made a motion, second by Randall Mann and unanimously carried, to table with the verbal permission of the applicants’ representative this variance hearing until the November 1,2007 meeting of the Board of Adjustment to provide the applicants an opportunity to consider the relocation of two existing sheds which are located very close to the property lines. November 1,2007 meeting - Cindy Nelson and Pat Pranke appear at the November 1, 2007 meeting. After discussion and consideration, Steve Schierer made a motion, second by Paul Larson and unanimously carried, to approve the variance as described in the variance application dated August 14, 2007 and as depicted on the registered surveyor’s drawing with the condition that an existing shed located on the common lot line between Lot 10 and Lot 11 will be voluntarily removed by either the property owner of Lot 10 or Lot 11 before conveyance of the proposed subdivision is presented for recording. ■; Notice of Hearing for Variance Otter Tail County Government Services Center 510 Fir Ave W Fergus Faiis, MN 56537 (218) 998-8030/998-8041 Emaii - wstein@co.ottertail.mn.us www.co.otter-tail.mn.us Appiicant and/or applicant’s representative must be present at the scheduled.hearing.
