MINN. t;A'i 0 21983 rESOUR^1/>iN0 8« Route 1 Box 75 Murdock, NE 68407 Otter Tall County Board of Adjustment Court House Fergus Falls, Minnesota 56537 Dear Sirs: Last fall I was notified by the Land & Resource Management Assistant Administrator, Mr. Bill Kalar that I had erected a building ( a 6 ft by 8 ft storage building in Brightwood Shoreline of Dead Lake) in violation of set backs in this area of Minnesota. We had no intention of violating your laws, but I cannot comply with a 200 foot lake setback- and a ten foot side yard set back from property line would place the structure in the middle of my lot. 200 foot deep lot. I do not have a The reason we placed the structure in the area where we did was we are on a hill with our mobile home and it is difficult because of health problems to pull or carry all our equipment up and down the steep hill. We have maintained our mobile home cabin and lake front in a very nice condition, keeping brush clear, no trash or junk, removing dead trees that could threaten us or our neighbors and generally adding improvements each year as we have the time. We really did not intend to violate any ordinance, and the Lumber yard in Dent where we purchased the preconstructed building did not mention any ordinance about set backs when they delivered the building to us. Our neighbor has a small building such as ours and did not mention he had to get permission to erect his building. Our lot on Dead Lake is probably the highest lot on the West end of the lake and it is difficult to haul motors and other equipment up and down our hill. We request that our case be heard at your meeting on June 2nd 1988 when we will be in Minnesota on vacation. We have enclosed the necessary forms and a check for $25.00 and we do request a variance for our structure on Dead Lake. We really would like to keep it where it is. We plan on building a house on this property within the next five years when we can fully retire so you can see we intend to keep improving the property.
