Motion was made by Craig Anderson, seconded by Robert Schwartz and unanimously carried, to approve a
10’ setback from the existing structure for the placement of a 6’ by 8’ shed no closer than 6’ from the side lot
line. Hardship is a substandard lot of record.

MINUTES OF THE MEETING
OF THE
OTTER TAIL COUNTY BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
November 6, 1997
The Otter Tail County Board of Adjustment met Thursday, November 6, 1997, with the following
persons in attendance;
Craig Anderson
John Everts
Cecil Femling
Robert Schwartz
George Walter
Kyle Westergard, Land and Resource Management
Wally Senyk, County Attorney
Call to Order - The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chairman George Walter.
Minutes Approved -
Hearing no corrections or additions the minutes of the October 9, 1997, meeting was approved as
mailed.
The following variance requests were heard:
Robert Flett - Approved
Robert Flett, Dent, MN, requested a variance of 10’ from the required west side lot line setback of 10’
and a variance of 10’ from the required back lot line setback (road right-of-way) of 10’ for the placement
of a drain field 0’ from the west side lot line and 0’ from the back lot line (road right-of-way). The
property is described as Lot 4, Chuck’s North Shore View First Addition, Star Lake in Dora Township.
The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. A letter from the Dora
Township Board of Supervisors approving of the applicant’s request was read for the record. After
discussion and consideration, motion was made by Craig Anderson, seconded by Cecil Femling and
unanimously carried, to approve a variance of 10’ from the required west side lot line setback of 10’ and
a variance of 10’ from the required back lot line setback (road right-of-way) of 10’ for the placement of a
drain field 0’ from the west side lot line and 0’ from the back lot line (road right-of-way). It was noted
that the placement of the drain field in this location will allow all other setback requirements to be met
(wells and structures). It was also noted that there is no other site available on the applicant’s property
for the placement of a drain field.
Floyd Felton - Approved
Floyd Felton, Dent, MN, requested a variance of 30’ from the required ordinary high water level setback
of 75’ and a variance of 9’ from the required side lot line setback of 10’ for the placement of a 6’ by 8’
shed 45’ from the ordinary high water level (lakeshore) and approximately 1’ from the side lot line. The
property is described as Lot 1, Spruce Lodge, Star Lake in Star Lake Township. The audience was
polled with no one speaking for or against the request. A letter from Tom and Iris FrankI expressing
concerns regarding the location of the lot line was read for the record. After consideration and
discussion, motion was made by Craig Anderson, seconded by Robert Schwartz and unanimously
carried, to approve a 10’ setback from the existing structure for the placement of a 6’ by 8’ shed no
