Recently wa have been advised of two variance applicatlona by Arvid =?: Swanson on Dead Lake and by Jolm SooMnerville on Rush Lake. Both
inldvlduals are requesting penalasion for substandard lots,
Even though an individual may have an "odd size" piece of property,, I'iv l.e. something more in dimensions then required, by the ordlnancje., j jjr
that is no justification to create substandard lots. ^Sufeh lota - that exceed the minimum standards but are not.large enough to create two lots or more of standard dimensions, should not be avibdivlded to create aubstandard lots. This practice would not be fair to -.''I'jiii

OTTER TAIL COUNTY BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT
November 5, 1981

The Otter Tail County Board of Adjustment met at 7:00 p.m
Thursday, November 5, 1981, with Craig Anderson, John Everts, Tom Stringer, David
Tritcs and George Walter present.

The minutes of the October meeting were approved.
The following applications for variance were considered:
George Johnson, Detroit Lakes, MN, requested permission to enclose an'existihg 10'
X 28' deck, 50' from lake, on Lot C of Osterman Survey Lots of G.L. 9, Section 7,
Hobart Township.' After discussion, motion was made by David Trites, seconded by’.' '
I ; -Tom Stringer and carried, to deny approval as'no ^grounds for hardshipj'have been
established.
Reinhold Wendt, Dent, MN,requested permission to sell that portion of property
located in Section 36, Dora Township, which has been an established resort of
1.3 acres, by metes and bounds description.

After discussion, motion was made by
Tom Stringer, seconded by, John Everts and carried, to^approve' request, because
of health reasons and because the resort will remain unchanged having been graiid-
fathered in.
MN , requested permission to sell a 1.03 acre parcel by metes
and bounds description in G.L.' 3, Section 35, Star Lake Township. After con
sideration, motion wasmadcby John Everts, seconded by David Trites and carried,
to approve request, being a unique situation, best use of property, grandfathered
in because of .location of home.'

foot.from;property line on .Lot 4, Augustana Beach, Amor Township,
by tom Stringer, seconded by David Trites and carried.
Motion was made
to deny approval as no
hardship proven. Motioiik-wasmado by Tom Stringer, seconded by Craig Anderson and
carried, to reconsider . Motion was made by Join Everts to compromise on the request
for variance and grant at' 5' from garage to lot line, reason being lot is narrow
and considering the house next door is on opposite lot line and. no dwelling can be
• built between, the motion was'seconded by George V/ater and carried with Toni Stringer
and David Trites voting "no".
