Motion was made by George Walter, seconded by Craig Anderson and unanimously carried, to approve the variance
as requested subject to the dedication of a 66' road to the public as shown on the registered surveyor’s drawing.

James Hetlahd - Denied
James Hetland, Fargo, ND, requested a variance of 18’ from the required top of bluff setback of 30’ for the
construction of a 24’ by 36’ garage and for the constmction of a 10’ by 12’ breezeway to an existing dwelling
approximately 12’ from the top of the bluff. The property is described as Lot 57 and the South 18.3’ of Lots 58 and
59, Block 3, Crystal Hills, Crystal Lake in Lida Township, the audience was polled with no one speaking for or
against the request. After consideration; motion was made by Craig Anderson, seconded by Randall Mann and
unanimously carried, to deny the variance as requMed as no adequate hardship had been shown, as other
reasonable alternatives exist and the applicant can make reasonable use of his property without the granting of a
variance.
Jim Ales- Approved
Jim Ales, Clitherall, MN, requested a variance of 6’ from the required road right-of-way setback of 20’ for the
construction of a 24’ by 28’ garage 14’ from the road right-of-way. The property, is described as Lot 28, Fair Oaks,
West Battle Lake in Girard Township. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request. A
letter from the Girard Town Board in favor.of the applicant’s request was read for the record. After consideration,
motion was made by George Walter, seconded by Cecil Femiing and unanimously carried, to approve a 2’ variance
from the required road rightTOf-way setback of 20’ for the construction of a garage 18’ from the road right-of-way.
Hardship being a substandard lot of record.
Terry W. Heaton - Approved
Terry W. Heaton, Pelican Rapids, MN, requested a variance to subdivide an existing 5.57 acre parcel into two
parcels. One parcel would be approximately 2.73 acres and the other parcel would be approximately 2.84 acres. The
minimum size requirement for metes and bounds parcels is 5 acres. The property is described as Lot 1, Block 2, Oak
Haven Beach Second Addition, Tamarack Lake in Scambler Township. The audience was polled with no one
speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by Craig Anderson, seconded by George
Walter and unanimously carried, to approve the variance as requested with the condition that a registered surveyor’s
drawing and a letter stating that their are no property line disputes must be provided at the time of recording.
Eugene Hanson - Approved
Eugene Hanson, ET. AL., Dent, MN, requested a variance to subdivide 4 parcels of less then 5 acres from an existing
53.71 acre parcel. Each parcel would be approximately 2.5 acres in size. The 4 parcels are identified as tracts A, C,
D and E, on the registered surveyor’s drawing on file with the County Auditor’s office. The property is described as
part of Goverriment Lots 1 and 2, Section 1 of Star Lake Township by Star Lake. The audience was polled with no
one speaking for or against the request. After consideration, motion was made by George Walter, seconded by Craig
Anderson and unanimously carried, to approve the variance as requested subject to the dedication of a 66’ road to the
public as shown on the registered surveyor’s drawing.
Karl Solomon Schlecht- Approved
Karl Solomon Schlecht, Pelican Rapids, MN, requested a variance to convey a substandard contiguous lot (Lot 8, .
Sunset Beach 3rd Addition),to the owner of Lot 2, Block 2, Sunset Beach Addition and a variance to cover more than
25% of the total lot area with a 30’ by 60’-structure. The 25% rule would allow for 1,250 square feet of area to be
covered with impervious surfaces. The property is described as Lots 8, 9, and 10, Block 1, Sunset Beach 3rd
Addition, Lake Lizzie in Dunn Township. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the request.
After consideration,: motion was made by John Everts, seconded by Craig Anderson and unanimously carried to
approve the conveyance of Lot 8, Sunset Beach 3rd Addition for permanent attachment to Lot 2, Block 2, Sunset
Beach Addition with the condition that Lots 9 and 10, Block 1 Sunset Beach 3rd Addition must be permanently
attached to the lake lots currently owned by Karl and Darlene Schlecht (Lots 9 and 10, Block 2, Sunset Beach
Addition - Lizzie and with the condition that no more than 25% of the total area can be covered with imperious
surfaces.
