EXPLAIN YOUR REQUEST
It is critical that we take action to shore up the northeast comer of our home, whicn, over the last 3 years, has become a problem. The
attached photos show a series of jacks currently in place in the crawl space to support this comer of the house, which is settling. By
digging out the area we can do a proper Job of building a basement foundation and providing adequate support for the house.
Our plan is to excavate the existing crawl space under the living room (highlighted in pink on the attached drawing) for a family room.
The elevation is appropriate for a walkout on the east side, the same as our neighbors on either side of us have done with their homes.
As a part of this, about 2 feet on the north end of the existing deck will be eliminated and the stairway to the lake will be moved to the
south. There will also be a basement below the new bedroom suite (approximately 18’ x 24’) on the north side of the house
(highlighted in yellow). To keep the incline as stable as possible, this addition will be set back 6 feet from the lakeside edge of the
house. A sketch of the front elevation showing the proposed addition and walkout is attached.
While excavation and constmction is in progress our intent is to utilize earthen dikes and silt fences to prevent any dirt from washing
into the lake. If deemed necessary, a plywood wall can also be erected.
Square footage of our lot is 24,651. Currently this calculates to 20% developed. With the addition of this new bedroom suite, it will
be approximately 22% developed.
I UNDERSTAND THAT APPROVAL OF THIS REQUEST APPLIES ONLY TO THE USE OF THE LAND.
I ALSO UNDERSTAND THAT OTHER PERMITS MAY BE REQUIRED, IT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO
