Prkilers ■ Fergus Falls, Minnesota MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF THE OTTER TAIL COUNTY BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT Thursday, May 4, 2006 The Otter Tail County Board of Adjustment met Thursday, May 4, 2006, with the following persons in attendance: Michael Harris Randall Mann Steve Schierer Cecil Femling Paul Larson Joe Maske Eric Babolian, Land and Resource Management Kurt Mortenson, Assistant County Attorney Called to Order - Randall Mann, Chair called the meeting of the Board of Adjustment to order at 6:30 p.m. Minutes Approved - The Board of Adjustment approved the minutes of the April 6, 2006 meeting as mailed. The Board of Adjustment considered the following applications for variance: White Sail River Development - The variance application was withdrawn by the applicant prior to the meeting. (6:30 p.m.) White Sail River Development, LLC, Lots 10, 11 and 12 Kabicona Beach, Pelican Lake in Scambler Township, requested a variance to construct house in bluff zone, with 2-4 foot landscape retaining wall. All excavated material to be removed from site. North corner of house extends into bluff zone. Landscape alterations to be 2-6 feet of cut. Structural alterations to hillside to be 2-10 feet of cut. Prior to the meeting the applicant notified the County Auditor’s office in writing that they were withdrawing there variance application. For the record the Board of Adjustment acknowledged receipt of and accepted the applicant’s notification that they were withdrawing there variance application. James and Bonnie Critelli - Approved the variance application as requested. (6:33 p.m.) James and Bonnie Critelli, Lot 13 Cousins Beach, West McDonald Lake in Dora Township, requested a variance to replace an existing lift station tank which is currently 21’ into the road right-of-way. Ordinance requires the tank to be 10’ from the road right-of-way. Tank will also be 25’ from wetland. The audience was polled with Mike McCarthy speaking in support of the variance as requested. An email from Kenneth M Strandberg in support of the variance as requested was read for the record. A letter from Norb Benke, Chairman, stating that Dora Township has no authority over this particular road was read for the record. After consideration, Steve Schierer made a motion, second by Paul Larson and unanimously carried, to approve the variance as requested in the application and as depicted on the drawing submitted with the variance application. The Board noted that this is maintenance and an improvement to an existing system. The Board also noted that Dora Township has no responsibility for this particular road or for the upkeep of the system. Erik and Sherri Maanum - Approved the variance application as requested. (6:38 p.m.) Erik and Sherri Maanum, Lot 11 Block 1 Wall Lake Development No. 1, Wall Lake in Aurdal Township, requested a variance to have Lot 11 Block 1 Wall Lake Development No. 1 declared a buildable lot. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. After consideration, Cecil Femling made a motion, second by Joe Maske and unanimously carried, to declare Lot 11 Block 1 Wall Lake Development No. 1 a buildable lot for residential use type structures. The Board noted that the variance as approved is consistent with prior actions of the Board in this immediate area and will provide the applicants with an ability to enjoy the same rights and privileges as others in this immediate area.
