We had done some survey work on Pete Lake on November 19, 2002, and found the Ordinary High Water (OHW) to be elevation 1351.75, while the water surface was 0.73 above the OHW or 1352.48. During our visit last Tuesday, it appeared the water level was even higher. We found the following evidence on January 4, 2005: ► Approximate level of Pete Lake 1353.45 ► High spot near runout across field 1354.05 ► Township road at low point 1351.05 There was some question as to whether the township should build up a dike on the south side of Pete Lake to protect the township road. There could be some legal ramifications if yoQ choose to do work beyond the right of way, and if you obstruct the natural outlet. If water comes up another 0.6 feet and starts to flow out of the lake, it will start to flow across a broad flat area. The township road will likely not be under immediate danger, in my opinion. To reduce the potential for any danger to the township road, be sure the existing culvert is functioning, which you indicated to be a 12 inch RCP. In addition, you could also install another culvert (perhaps a 24 inch pipe) at a higher elevation then the existing 12 inch RCP. The water will flow with one or both pipes to the enclosed basin south of the township road. There is a low spot at elevation 1358.65 in the driveway to Fire No. 17076, approximately 630 feet south of the E-W township road at the south line of Section 29.
