APPLICATION FOR VARIANCE OTTER TAIL COUNTY, MINNESOTA July 23, 1991 In an effort to resolve compliance issues with our proposed garage, (permit # 10722), we are requesting a variance as per Otter Tail County's Shoreland Management Ordinance. Our request for a variance is consistent with several points listed in section 6, Administration, D5, Variances From Standards. We are requesting to build a garage three and a half feet from the north lot line of our property. The following reasons support our need to build within the ten foot restriction: a. Our 50 foot wide lot makes building a garage impractical and unworkable in any other configuration. In addition, we have large evergreen trees and a mound system drain field restricting our choices. b.Many other property owners in our neighborhood have been granted variances and have built their garages in similar configurations. Our immediate neighbors to the north and south have given us their approval as well as written easements to extend to our property line. c. Because of the above reasons, we ask your consideration for our request of a variance. Lorraine ElliottJames Elliott 1 September 5th. 1991 Page 3 GREGORY JOHN ERICKSON - DENIED Gregory John Erickson, Battle Lake. MN requested a variance for the erection of 2 tee pees (summer months only) for occasional camping by children related to owner. The property is described as part of the SW1 /4, Section 29 of Clitherall Township on Holo Lake. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against this request. A letter from LeRoy Carlson stating no objection to this request was read for the record. After consideration, motion was made by John Everts, seconded by Craig Anderson and carried with Victor Petterson and Cecil Femling voting no, to deny the variance request as no adequate hardship had been shown, but to allow the 2 tee pees to remain until the construction of the house is completed. After the vote to deny Mr. Erickson requested that John Everts withdraw his vote as it was his feeling that John Everts may have a conflict. At the conclusion of the meeting John Everts stated that out of respect for Mr. Erickson's request he would withdraw his vote and abstain. The variance request failed by a vote of 3 to 2 with John Everts abstaining.
