Kim K Kallhoff and Christine Pralle - Approved the variance application as requested with a
condition. (7:48 p.m.)
Kim K Kallhoff & Christine Pralle, part of Sub Lots 2, 3 and 4 of Government Lot 4, Section 3 of St. Olaf Township by
Lake Johannes, requested the following; Cannot make 5 acre lots. Wish to split existing 8.06 acre tract into two
buildable parcels - (1) 4.6 acres in area with required with of 400' and (2) 3.6 acres in area with required width of 400’
with existing building. Johnny Torgrimson represented the applicants at the public hearing. The audience was polled
with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. After consideration and discussion, Steve Schierer
made a motion, seconded by Paul Larson and unanimously carried, to approve the variance as stated in the
application dated June 9, 2010 and as depicted on the drawing submitted with the variance application with the
condition that a registered surveyor’s drawing must be presented at the time of conveyance. The Board noted that
the road already subdivides this existing parcel and that each parcel will exceed the minimum size requirements for
platted lots
Joel C. Shobe and Susan Sandvig Shobe - Denied. (7:50 p.m.)
Joel C. Shobe and Susan Sandvig Shobe, Lots 1 and 2 Block 1 Pleasant Gove First Addition, Otter Tail Lake in Amor
Township, requested the following: We wish to construct a two-story garage/storage building (non residential) with a
height of 24’, i.e. 4’ above the allowed height limit. This will allow for two floors of storage therefore reducing the
overall footprint of the building. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as
requested. After consideration and discussion, Paul Larson made a motion, seconded by Michael Harris and
unanimously carried, to deny the variance as requested as no adequate hardship/practical difficulty had been shown
that would allow for the granting of the variance as requested and the applicants can obtain a reasonable use of their
property without the granting of the variance as requested.
Dwight and Carlotta Rasmussen - Approved the variance application as requested with a condition.
(8:00 p.m.)
Dwight and Carlotta Rasmussen, Lots 7 and 8 Ironwood Beach, Pickeral Lake in Maine Township, requested the
following: We would like to add an attached garage to our existing home which is within the 100’ setback. We would
like to raise our home 4' before we add the approved variance and garage because the house is in a hole. I would
like an attached garage so that when I’m 80, I don't have to walk across the yard with groceries. I would appreciate
having the house lifted so that I wouldn’t have to have steps in my home. We would also like a 16’ by 20' addition on
the eastside as it would be a delightful room with the morning sun. Closest construction point will be approximately
5T from water line. Requesting a variance of 49' from ordinary high water level. East side addition will have deck
connecting to existing deck. We are willing to move septic for the east addition. The audience was polled with no one
speaking for or against the variance as requested. After consideration and discussion, Steve Schierer made a
motion, seconded by Randall Mann and unanimously carried, to approve the variance as stated in the application
dated June 8, 2010 and as depicted on the drawings submitted with the variance application with the condition, as
voluntarily agreed to by the applicants, the existing 8’ by 10’ storage building located on the east side of the property
must be removed.
James W. Pratt - Denied (8:10 p.m.)
James W. Pratt, part of Government Lot 3, Section 15 of Nidaros Township by Ellingson Lake, requested a variance
of 9’ from the required side lot line setback of 10’ to reconstruct and add on to existing structure located 1' from the lot
line. The audience was polled with no one speaking for or against the variance as requested. After consideration and
discussion, Michael Harris made a motion, second by Steve Schierer and unanimously carried, to deny the variance
as requested as no adequate hardship/practical difficulty had been shown that would allow for the granting of the
variance as requested, the applicant has adequate room to place the structure 10’ from the lot line, the applicant has
other alternatives site available to consider and the applicants can obtain a reasonable use of his property without the
granting of the variance as requested.
